Charming old street

This place is very popular with tourists. It's old street fill with shops selling Taiwan local delicacies. There's plenty of foods to taste and souvenirs to bring back home.

Took a bus to Jiufen. No need take tour - just ask your hotel staff how to go there. Love this place as it is cool with so many local stalls selling many varieties of food and also local snacks - 小吃。even though it is quite crowded, people just in 2 opposite directions. If raining, just wear a poncho, not... More

Apparently the street is famous due to the movie Spirited Away - I just found out as we walked around the area and saw so many shops selling items with the same reference. It was crowded when we went, but even then it felt good to see the place came to life with people - except when you were queueing... More

This is my 2nd time to Jiufen old street and I never get enough of it. There are many nice eateries along the street and we tried a bit of everything as we walked. There are also many shops selling lovely souvenirs at reasonable prices. Not suitable for old people as the lanes are up slope and there are a... More

We originally went to this area because we love the movie "Spirited Away." The countless shops, restaurants, and tea stores were busy and fun. Depending on the weather, it can be harder to see when looking outward towards the mountains and oceans, otherwise this is a lot of fun.

The place are built on the mountain which were a mining site for the local. The weather are cooling all year round. the local foods are great. there are many tea houses to try on. spend an hour or two to sip tea while seeing the beautiful sea view in the evening is a great peace mind. looking out at... Jiufen is a top Taiwanese attraction, especially for visitors from other Asian country. However, I think the Old Street should be the last reason for your visit. The Old Street has lost its charm to over-commercialism. It is now a mega-size tourist trap. On the other hand, Jiufen has a lot other things to offer: one of the most scenic... More
