Enjoy a mixer of local friendly Taiwanese people/gold mine, Japenese Building, Ocean view and huge gold block. In addition, there are temples, waterfalls, and natural sites for you to explore!

Lovely afternoon spent wandering the ecological park. I learned all about the Japanese-Taiwanese relationship, visited a Shinto shrine, and admired a chateau to nowhere (a chalet built for Crown Prince Hirohito's visit (that he never made)). Highly recommend.

I wandered through Jiufen and was not too impressed with the busy commercial and touristy Old Street so i hopped on the bus for the 5 minute trip to the Gold Ecological Park at Jinguashi. The bus dropped me off just by the entrance to...More

The Gold Mine Museum is worth a visit. The gold panning activity was a learning experience. Do not miss going into the Benshan Tunnel No. 5.

Ticket is slightly misleading. You'll need to buy a separate one to enter the Gold Mine. Still, it's inexpensive, and the NT$5 extra to actually walk into a gold mine is worth the extra. I didn't make it all the way up the mountain (literally)...More

This place isn't nearly as popular as nearby Jiufen, but is a good stop for some natural scenery, a good walk, some exposure to the mining history of the region and the impact of Japanese colonial rule. I found the "Crown Prices Residence", a Japanese...More

We spent a few hours here in the late-afternoon after spending the late-morning and lunch time hours in Jiufen. This was a nice place to take some hikes to see the relics of a Shinto Shrine plus the tunnels/mine shafts. The museum was quite informative...More

With its air of historical heritage, Shuijinjiu
(ShueiNanDong, Jingguashi, Jiufen) used to be
prosperous and glamorous due to mining. Although its
magnificent semblance no longer exists, the peaceful
and beautiful atmosphere has persisted. With a wave to
the age of the gold rush, one can still see a glimpse
of its glorious past through the Golden Waterfall.
