We took the metro train to Yuanshan station and walked about 10 mins to get to Lin Mansion. Free entrance and well kept building. The garden is quite grand and there's plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the beauty of the Mansion. Toilets are kept very clean and there's a water dispenser for filling up your water bottle.

An elegant century old mansion with its garden and houses well preserved. The Lin family has kindly opened up this mansion and part of the garden for the people to visit and enjoy in its surroundings. The old chinese architecture, painstakingly restored, managed to covey the sense of elegance and beauty back in its olden days. One cannot help but... More

Taken by VIP tours as it was out of our walking range from the hotel. A very interesting house from a period of Taiwan's past. Shows how the wealth lived. Used as a bridal photo shot place and can be very popular. Open 9am to 5pm most days except special festival periods Metro use the Danshui line to Yuanshan Station

I enjoy landscaped gardens especially one like this where every architectural feature has been included for a purpose. There is minute detail in the craftsmanship of the building and it is a fine example of the Qing period in Taipei. When I arrived a volunteer guide came to me with an English brochure about the history of the house and... More

The Lin Mansion and Garden give a true insight into life for a wealthy family in Taiwan in the early to mid 1880s. Antique furniture, traditional Chinese architecture and landscaping in the garden make this a fascinating place to sit and contemplate life back then. To me the Lin Family Mansion and Gardens is well worth the trip out to... More

We visited this site on a Wednesday morning. Once you enter the estate, you are transformed into a peaceful, serene park like environment with only nature surrounding you. Unfortunately the main house was being refurbished but the gardens and pond is very peaceful.

I was very desapointed as 80% of the garden is under renovation. Really no much to see. Too bad really too bad.

This surely is a great historical landmark, but sadly, two thirds of the estate is closed for renovations and the remaining third is in decay and disrepair. It still provides for some nice photos, although in somewhat decadent mood. Given that this place is also out of the way, I think that one can safely skip it until the repairs... More

The only thing holding this back from 4+ rating is the lack of information, and the staff not being so friendly. The place itself is beautiful, absolutely fascinating and well kept. Absolutely worth a visit.

I read positive reviews of this place but sadlly, it is being renovated and much of it (maybe 65%) is closed off. Of course, renovations are essential and afterwards this place will be amazing. Check the information before going, I would skip this place until the renovations are finished.
