We stayed two nights. Climbed Volcano Concepcion. Stayed at Finca San Juan de la Isla and were guided by Ogu Ometepe ( find them on Facebook). Would definitely recommend a visit.

We took the ferry to Isla Ometepe with our car. It cost about $50 each way but was worth it. We did horseback riding to the waterfalls and it was beautiful and worth it. We did ride for about 5-6 hours. It only cost $50...More

Lots of rain but a fun place to stay, loads of things to do and definitely worth a visit. If you have your own transport you can find better value accommodation further into the island. The whole island is worth exploring, go off the beaten...More

The island is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. Rent a scooter or motorcycle and go around yourself, it requires a few days to be explored fully and the climb to the two volcanoes is challenging due to the hot weather. Don't miss the butterflies...More

Beautiful place but hard to get around so plan your stay for longer when you want to see several things. Two volcanoes, rivers, jungle, but also just the plain beach. Would recommend!

It is possible, but it would make for a long and rushed day, as others suggested. My family and I hired a driver to take us to the ferry. Because we were on Ometepe for several days, we did not hire a guide. Ometepe... More

I am so sorry for the delay I hope I didn't miss you! If you hike volcano maderas you are in the JUNGLE. It doesn't get more up close and authentic than that!
