Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent 4 nights here with our tourer van. The facilities were good and the scenery breathtaking.
There could be more water points and shower facilities but the ones that are there are very nice.
There is a lovely park for kids and a game arcade. We did not use the cafe or restaurant so cant comment on that. There is a small shop for basics prices typicl of on site shops.
The beach is nice but I would have thought that the site would keep it a bit tidier to encourage more visitors.

Great place to stay for a holiday, this site has the full works with a delightful, restaurant, cafe and entertainment facility. The staff were very helpful and the service standard very high. The nearest village is Elie, which is approximately a two mile walk for the energetic, but what a lovely walk it is! Of course onlt five minutes by car if you prefer.

Just spent a wonderful overnight stay in this lovely park. We were really impressed with every aspect of the park and will definitely be returning. Its a beautiful place, spotlessly clean in all areas wirh fantastic facilities. The restaurant and bar were great value for money and the food was lovely. I can't finish the review without complimenting the staff, 5 stars all round.

What a beautiful site. Amazing location, very clean and tidy and good facilities. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the shower set up, they look reasonably new but the water pressure was awful, was a trickle! Will def go back next year.

We've been to Elie a few times now and never let down no matter the weather. Whether it's chilling out or going for walks on the many beaches and forests or going for a bite to eat and a drink we always have something to do. The shower block is very good and cubicles are a good size and clean.

Near to this site is the chain walk which means you can climb down the rock face on one side and climb up the other. Very strenuous and you need to make sure the tide is out whilst you negotiate the climb. Afterwards, return to the site club/bar and enjoy a well earnec drink. Wear very sturdy SHOES/climbing boots and wet weather clothing if wet. Do not go if it is very windy in my opinion.

After my third visit to Shell Bay, I felt some standards have dropped! The showers needed a bit of maintainance, some of them you had to jump around in water flow to get wet!
The electicity kept tripping!
A few years ago, my husband was only allowed to park caravan up then leave site as it was a transit van he was driving. Only vehicle available with towbar. This year their was a good few actual travellers on site, all with Transit vans. The travellers kept themselves to themselves but I know I felt a bit unsafe and uneasy.
I love Shell Bay and hope I can still visit but want to feel the safeness I have felt over the years and need reassurance that it will continue to be a safe, trouble free site.
