Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great evening doing the Umu experience with Ngame at his home. Lots of hands on activities such as preparing the umu, making ika mata all the way from husking the coconut, flax baskets and finally the big feast. Even though both his wife and his assistant were away at the time, Ngame still did a great job of keeping everyone engaged and entertained. The tour does run on island time a bit so pack snacks if you have young kids like we did as it was closer to 8pm before we started eating. Meitaki Tumutoa Tours!

We done the umu experience and it was great.
The hosts were amazing, the food was amazing, the show was amazing, the fire show was incredible (we had the young up and comers for the fire show and I reckon they would give the pros a run for their money)
Couldn’t recommend doing this enough, the food was awesome, learning how to make ika mata was a BIG plus.
Selfless hosts that are caring and want to teach absolutely everyone as much as they can.

Highly recommend Tumutoa Tours! Such an amazing cultural experience. We took our 7 year old son to the Umu feast and fire show and was concerned before coming that his attention span wouldn’t last but he was so engaged in the whole evening. Ngame and Mania were great with him (and with the whole group) throughout the evening, it was amazing. Our son has not stopped talking about it since. It is a definite highlight of our holiday. We were made to feel so welcome. I would highly recommend this to everyone visiting Rarotonga.

We had a great time at the Umu Feast and Fire Show. Preparing your own feast, including making salads and accompaniments, helping prepare the meats, making coconut milk for the Ika Mata all while sharing in stories of the culture and of Ngame, Mania and their crew made for a memorable and fun night. All topped off by a fire show. Highly recommeded.

We are both still on a high from our time spent with these legends, even though we are well and truly back home. My husband, Mark, was chosen as the chief for the day (celebrating his 60th which was just perfect) and he still talks about the fact that he didn't have to do anything as the chief. Just like home!!! Us girls, prepared the salads, and learnt about the different flavors used in the traditional dishes which was absolutely fantastic. The day was full of surprises, laughter, entertainment, local musicians, and of course, beautiful food. You leave feeling you have had the complete experience with locals.

What an amazing experience! You feel very welcome into the ways and traditions of island life on the Cook Islands. You prepare as a team your own food, which is cooked in an earth oven, and while your meat and fruits are cooking, you learn more about basket weaving, how to open and grate a coconut and how to squeeze the coconut to add flavour to your food.
All rounded by a fire show after you have devoured your earth-oven cooked food.
You will experience amazing hosts, good vibes and a through and through joyful afternoon/evening.

In the words of my Vanuatu brother, the Tumutoa was the pinnacle of his trip, and I saw my cousins there too lolz. We both absolutely loved our time with the lovely Christian couple Mānea and Ngametua. Thank you for being fantastic hosts, thank you for the great performances, and thank you Jesus for their humility, kindness, and aroha.

This was the most fun and interesting day we had on our honeymoon in the Cooks. Ngame made the day entertaining and he shucks a mean coconut. The food was delicious and the work put in as a warrior to make the food and the baskets was amazing.
The highlight of the day for my wife and I was Ngame sharing his spirituality and journey with us - he will be forever in my heart and helped me rekindle my faith, for which I will be eternally grateful. Such a beautiful man, and such a glorious day!
