Proper little gem of a shop and much bigger on the inside. Fantastic range of spirits with super cheerful staff, and a coupla little tasters to guide us in our purchasing choice. Great range of local ales and other produce. If in pooley, its a must-see

What a fabulous and unassuming shop - and gin mecca! Darren helped us sus out a few gins and every taste is certainly covered. But that's only the start - loads of items for every palette. Warm and engaging welcome - even took the time to share a few suggestions of local places of interest. Likely to become a regular stop whenever in the area.

Friendliest staff with great choice, picked up a fabulously smooth cognac and my husband always hunts out an espresso liqueur and he found an excellent contender in the Bottega range. Thank you Chestnut House

Lovely visit to this shop today where we were able to sample different gins and vodkas from the local area. Wonderful assistant Farrah alongside her helpful recommendations made the visit a wonderful and friendly experience. Well worth a visit if you’re passing.

Having had an enjoyable mooch around the shop, we decided to have coffee and traybake cakes outside at the back. What great value for money! Only £6 for two hot drinks and two cakes - all of which were good. Highly recommended for snacking and mooching.

Best shop in Pooley bridge! Has the friendliest staff and the best ice cream ever, there for a week and managed to eat 5 ice creams i couldn’t get enough! (Especially for the price). Has a great selection of goods and necessities which staff were eager to help us find and shop, shout-out to the lovely man who let me get a cone of ice cream despite it being closed off as i was the number 1 ice cream eater of the week :). Thanks guys you were all amazing and made our stay better!

Chestnut House hosted a Gin Cruise on Ullswater Steamers which was an awesome experience. The gins we sampled were gorgeous and several! The host was warm and welcoming. The whole evening was brilliant and we will be back again next year!

This is my first visit to the Chestnut House. Not only one of the best ice creams around, but by far the best value too. I’ll look forward to going back again and trying some more flavours.
