Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Steep but short climb that is totally worth it, as the views from the top are just stunning. You can leave your car in a small car park opposite the Church. You'll meet many sheep on the way up. One of our favourite short hikes in the Lakes. A must-visit if you are in Pooley Bridge or around Ullswater. Takes a max of 1 hour to go up and back.

This is a short but steep climb, offering the best views of Ulswater. There’s some parking spaces available by the St Peter's church in Martindale, and the path begins and ends there. We just followed the path as marked on Google maps (we saw some folks veering off the path and needlessly scrambling/negotiating steep sections) and it was relatively easy. Beautiful picnic spot near the cairn on top.

Awesome walk and the views are to die for, would certainly recommend this walk steady uphill from Pooly bridge but manageable for most

A great short hike for amazing views- well worth it! The children loved the challenge of the climb. We managed to park at the church easily.

Wear appropriate clothing and footwear , carry all your essentials, especially water , your legs will be tired I mean really tired , if you are a regular gym goer , save this walk for leg day , beautiful views and scenery, there is lots of sheep's about , which is nice, try talking to them, they understood me very well , it will be really really painful coming back down , just be ready for it ,

Took a shortcut to Hallin Fell, drove and parked at St. Peter’s Church. Within 30 minutes climb, the scenic of Ullswater was stunning. Enjoyed the beautiful weather and the breeze and was immersed in nature. It was a must in Ullswater.

A quick, steep climb and all the wonders of Ullswater lie before you - what more can you ask for ! We were there on a windy day so the experience certainly blew the cobwebs away!

So impressed by the work done in the Lakes on the paths. There was so much of interest on this fairly short and not too strenuous circular walk around Hallin Fell.

We followed other reviews on here and parked at the church in Martindale to get to the summit. The walk is short but steep! Views from the top would have been amazing but unfortunately the clouds rolled in and we couldn’t see a thing!! 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️
We were up and down in under an hour, probably a good walk for those with kids as a great reward at the top but the walk isn’t too long.
