Varatec Monastery is a must in a tour of monasteries. First of all, the road toward the monastery is very special. The monastery itself is not better, not worst than others but gives you a very good feeling. Is clean and organised and very friendly....More

We were a group of four and we were fortunate enough to have arranged for an overnight stay within the monastery ground by Axa Travel. Varatec is the largest monastery in Europe and there are four hundred nuns who live in houses around the monastery...More

If you are traveling from Piatra Neamt this is normally the first place to visit on the monastery trail. Note that the main church appears to be undergoing some major refurbishment inside. It is full of sturdy wooden scaffolding, meaning you can't really see much...More

yes, Varatec is not Agapia; Varatec is Varatec if you need only to see the nicest, do not visit if you want to see only the nicest girl from a bunch of them, it's your choice if you want to find yourself, to feel beyond...More

Sometimes, you need to get rid off the modern tools of civilisation and to become introspective. Varatec monastery can help you to do that.

If you have time you should visit it, but it's not very special comparing with other monasteries in the area.

Garden is ok ...surroundings ok and quiet....but interior is under refurbishment....and also materials used for are not respecting old ones...they are changing a lot of materials with some too modern ones...this is just a normal monastery..better visit Agapia, Neamt, Voronet....

The place is nice but not as good as the neighbouring Agapia monastery. Nice interior court and grounds. The monastery itself is average.

Agapia monastery is more beautiful than this one, but it's worth visiting it. Clean, full of flowers, it's free to entry. The monasterie's bakery is ok, but not that delicious as Agapia's.

The monastery itself was closed for "cleaning" so we weren't able to see inside. We liked the architecture of the other buildings on the monastery grounds as well as the little village, Varatec. Unfortunately, being Sunday, the nuns bakery was also closed.
