When I planned my vacation, I found that this was going to be open on the day we were in the Linlithgow area. It's only open 4 days a year, so wasn't expecting all the traffic at the Kinneil House, but thankfully they were doing...More

Walk in the grounds often and have visited a few times before, but now even more is on display. Was astounded to see the extent of the building and marvelled at how lucky it was that it was saved from destruction, just in the knick...More

We visited Kinneil House when they advertised an open day just before Halloween. We took our 6 year old son and we all enjoyed it. The grounds were lovely and Lewis had great fun running through the leaves and playing in the playpark. We did...More

Went along on Friday night to the Museums at Night even. Loved it. The paintings are stunning and it is well worth a visit. The Friends of Kinneil House were great tour guides and really helped to explain the house and the paintings.

The grounds can be visited at any time. There are ruins of the church and James Watt's workshop and lovely for a woodland walk. But the Open days are something quite unique. The wall paintings are original and date from 16th century. They were nearly lost...More

A must do if you are in the aerea, full of history. You can have a nice walk on the park on sunny day too. Just one part of the house is accessible, cannot immagine how beautiful it must have been back then

Kinneil House was to be destroyed when they found the most exquisite renaissance painted walls. A must to visit (it's free). However, be warned that they're only open a few select days per year. So check their website for dates.

We went on one of the Open Days so the visit was free. There was a guide in each room explaining the history which made it really fascinating. The guides are volunteers and very enthusiastic. Unfortunately, much of the house had been destroyed before they...More
