Attadale Gardens is a unique 20 acre garden on the south side of Loch Carron initially established by the Victorians with rhododendrons planted over the hillside. Over the past 40 years, Nicky Macpherson has transformed these gardens with the creation of water gardens with Monet bridges and waterfalls, planted with a painter's eye, a Japanese garden, a huge fern collection housed in a geodesic dome, a sunken fern garden as well as the traditional kitchen garden. The oldest part of the garden is the sunken garden with the giant sundial nearby. There is also a fascinating collection of sculpture scattered through the garden. There is a huge tree collection as well. A DIY tearoom serves homemade snacks, cakes and biscuits as well as tea, coffee & hot chocolate. There are photographs on display & reference books about gardening, which provides additional information for visitors. You can buy plants as well.

Attadale Gardens are well worth a visit. We went in early October and found them resplendent in the colours of Autumn. Started by Baron Schroder in the late 19th century, and totally transformed after the 1980 storms by owner Nicky Macpherson, the Gardens are designed to frame the magnificent views of Skye and the surrounding hills. Set in 20 acres,... More

To quote from W.B.Yeats. poem 'The Lake Isle of Innisfree' "And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow," The garden has been described in glowing terms by so many people and to me just about everything that can be said has been said but sitting alone in the garden on my last visit I realised that... This is nice if you really like gardens or need to stretch your legs, but there are prettier views in this area. Good for a nice walk. I especially liked the Fernery and the kitchen garden. Looks like it's a great place to hold the local Highland Games.

We visited late morning,it had been raining heavily but then the sun came out and made the gardens look beautiful and endlessly interesting both with the plants and sculptures. We enjoyed an informative chat with the charming lady laird. The gardens are very dog friendly which is a huge plus point and we would recommend Attadale to anyone with an... More

The gardens are well looked after by the estate gardeners Every style of garden is well signposted. Most plants, trees and shrubs have their own origin noted.A superb vegetable garden. A nice little cafe for a snack. Easy access for wheelchairs ,good pathways. Most on the flat just a few climbs.

Found this attraction on our map and seeing that we like visiting gardens, we called in. So glad we did. It's a hidden gem! Chatted with owners, lovely people. Friendly robin, waiting for titbits. Sorry birdie! Had a lovely time walking around the gardens, some cracking plants there! The weather was great and the views from the outlook were stunning!... More

A lovely private garden open to the public in a beautiful setting. We spent a couple of hours wandering the gardens and then sat in the sun outside the bothy tea room. I cant imagine a nicer way to spend a couple of hours.

We stopped here as part of our NC500 road trip. The gardens are Beautiful and i would advise anyone to take their time and explore the gardens fully. The staff are really freindly and very knowledgeable about the gardens as well as the surrounding area, we were given a detailed map of the gardens and informed of the different routes... More
