Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had no preconceived idea and came to visit this casa museu adjoining the restaurant and the Jacinto trail.
However the place generated quite some emotion and now feel like will be reading A Cidade e as Serras which Eça de Queiroz wrote while contemplating the view here.
The visit is in portuguese but we managed to catch enough.

For those who love the writer Eça de Queiroz and his magnificent work it´s one of the best places to visit in the Douro region. The tour and the guidance of Sandra were just magical. Also the restaurante in the house is absolutely divine. Eating the same meal as Eça de Queroz ate when he arrived in Tormes...

The guided tour was engaging, going through the personal history and belongings of Eça de Queiroz and its family. The house and surroundings served as inspiration for “A Cidade e as Serras”, so the visit is even more rewarding if you have read the book.

We were blessed with an excellent guide for this museum, which was fortunate as there was not much to see in this museum house. An average farmhouse with some old furniture does not make for an unfortgettable experience. Eça de Queiroz, the writer to which the museum is dedicated, never even lived in the house - he just owned it and never gave it much use. The restaurant on the foundation however is well worth the visit - give it a try!

This Museum dedicated to Eça de Queirós is a wonderful tribute to this great 19th century writer. All forms of art are represented in this beautiful home and the devotion as well as knowledge displayed by Sandra our guide on the authors history was outstanding. Having stayed in this region for 2 months and explored widely Casa de Tormes is a gem waiting to be explored and is a credit to the Foundation in bringing the authors life work and background to the publics attention.

Tormes charmed a famous and traveled diplomat (Eca de Queiroz) and of course that enchants anyone. Express one Portugal authentic and genuine. To not lose.

We hiked up from the station (Aregos) on the line from Porto to Pinao. A steep climb but the view and food at the restaurant together with the museum makes it worthwhile
