We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisorโ€™s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated in the heart of the town centre next to the bus station the theatre is handy for free car parking 100 yards away. A few more steps takes one to a Weatherspoons public house, ideal for after show refreshment. This venue provides excellent seating arrangement enabling all patrons a good view of the performance. What more is there to say !.

Visited theatre to watch a band playing, nice seating in a good theatre. Small enough to enjoy, bands, comedians etc.. Some great act appearing in next few months at very reasonable prices. Will be going again.

So glad we managed to get the last 2 seats together in the house. The performance was great by the band & the singer. Brought back great memories for the both of us aged between 49 & 70.
The audience got to sing/dance along & we're included several times during the show. We both would recommend this particular show.
The Congress Theatre is in the heart of Cwmbran town centre with a wide range of shows/performances/musicals etc to offer the public. We're hoping to get to the Lionel Richie experience & the Simply Red show coming soon.
Thank you to all the staff involved; from easy online booking to collecting tickets to the bar staff, ushers, sound & lighting.
Your all part of a fantastic team.

Turned up an hour before the performance to be told we were WAAAY too early by an elderly gentleman. So we went off walked around the town that was by now closed but I got cold so we headed back to stand in the foyer of the building. We came back, waited. No indication from the same gentlemen that we could now go up to the lounge & auditorium considering he knew what we were waiting for. It was only when two other people walked past him we realised we were now allowed in. The โ€œloungeโ€ consists of fold out tables & some pub chairs. No draught, all bottles & cans. Which brings me to my next point. During the interval I queued for 15 minutes for 2 bottles of Budweiser, these 330ml drinks were given with 200ml plastic cups. I was making a dash back as the show was coming back on when the lady on the door advised I couldnโ€™t take the bottles in. Incredulously I asked her what I was supposed to do with them because theyโ€™re not going to fit in the cups I was given. She replied โ€œdrink a bitโ€ i would have had to drink 3 quarters of one there and then which defeats the object of buying a beer. If I wanted to neck a beer Iโ€™d have gone to spoons for the evening ! I asked if they had larger glasses, she helpfully replied probably. So off I go back to the bar, among the throng of people still waiting. Luckily I spied pint glasses in the corner relatively close to the edge of the bar so I could quickly grab two. If you canโ€™t take bottles into the auditorium then sell the beer in plastic bottles or even better serve them with plastic cups they will fit in! The theatre is old and dated, we did feel like we were in an old labour club rather than a theatre. It would have to be something pretty spectacular I canโ€™t see anywhere else to make me go back. I felt the standard of the venue let down the show, itโ€™s definitely had its day. How they justify ยฃ20 a ticket for a show in there I do not know, the show was well worth it but the venue let it down.

This theatre hosts many events including the good old Pantomines, Dance shows, Spiritual Healing events, theatre, concerts, artists and quiz nights for local schools. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the facilities extremely clean. Refreshments at reasonable prices, are available before the performance and during the intervals, but my favourite has got to be the ice cream!

This was our second visit to the Congress, first in the evening - found parking very easy as stated in the reply to my question which was answered very promptly - and it was FREE in the car park underneath the shopping centre (Monmouth car park), very rare to find these days. The show was superb, New Amen Corner are a brilliant group and entertained all evening with a vast selection of 60's songs, not a minute was wasted with 'trivial chat' also accompanying Mike D'Abo and Mike Pender doing a selection of their hits. It is a lovey theatre - with very friendly staff serving tea, coffee or an alcohol drink upstairs before the show and in the interval. There is plenty of leg room between the rows of seats and the sound and lighting system is very good, altogether a great evening. We look forward to our next visit in the near future.
