    Great view
July is best time to come since it’s off peak and quiet . Came here on a weekday and the view was amazing. We ordered couple of rum drinks and a burger . The bartender she was awesome and friendly . Great views of the harbor from above.

    Definitely a must when visiting
Always a great sunset along with good music and various foods. The ginger beer is really good and locally made. The steel drums start off then they are followed by a reggae band. Lots of artesian vendors making jewelry, baskets, artwork and many other souvenirs of the island. Definitely something you must do!

Amazing View of English Harbour. Spectacular Carpenter Rock Trail.
We drove up to Shirley Heights late in the afternoon after visiting Nelson's Dockyard on a day when the sunset party was not happening. It was peaceful and quiet and offered the most spectacular views of English Harbour that can be found. We were hoping to have a drink but were disappointed to discover that the restaurant at Shirley Heights Lookout closes at 4pm each day except when it stays open late of Thursday and Sunday nights when the sunset BBQ party is happening. It is completely closed on Mondays. Would love to have been up here at sunset even without the BBQ party going on as other's photos look amazing. We considered coming here for the sunset party as I love steel drum bands and for the views, but we decided not as it sounded rather touristy and crowded. However, I suspect it would have been a fun time. I did return another morning and hiked up the Jones Valley Trail from Galleon Beach to the summit of Shirley Heights and then descended on the spectacular Carpenter Rock Trail back down to the beach. I was the lone hiker on the trail and the views during the descent were amazing and this was one of the highlights of our visit to Antigua,

    A must do
Every time I visit Antigua, I pop up here for a bit of music and a few beers. Shirley Heights jump up is a well known event and worth a visit although for some it does get a little overcrowded. If you just want to take in the sunset, don’t go on Sunday or Thursday!!

    Great views of Antigua
Booked a tour here through my resort. Shirley Heights has spectacular views from up high. I recommend the walking trail, but use caution as the ground is not level in certain spots. There are areas to get drinks and food. Unfortunately during my visit, it was packed with people! I waited in line over an hour for drinks.

Worth the visit for the views alone
Fantastic views over English & Falmouth Harbours, and other parts of the island. Tickets to access Nelson’s Dockyard ($15 pp when we went) include access to Shirley Heights. You will need a car or be in a taxi to get up there!

    Shirley Heights
Shirley Heights is a great view point in Antigua. You'll get some great photos here. We stopped here for 10 minutes as part of our cruise ship excursion. There were some local vendors and a small restaurant there.

    Sunday Funday
The views were spectacular, we opted to go down the paths instead of staying in the chaos at the Sunday night Party. The steel drums were enjoyable and gave a rhythmic island vibe. The rum was flowing and thee bands kept thee party going. Its very busy, the lines were long. We went with some locals who were able to take care of us. Highly recommend Keith from Jolly Beach as he arranged the taxi, and made sure we all had a good time.

We went for Sunday fun day. It was a lot of fun! Very crowded so if you don’t like crowds, don’t go on Sunday. The views were unbelievable! The rum punch is awesome and the nutmeg with it was superb! I had three and our driver asked me how I was still standing. It will sneak up on ya! 🤤

You can’t visit Antigua and not go to Shirley heights!
You can’t go to Antigua and NOT go to Shirley heights! Go early and get your seats and food tickets which will make the crowds way more tolerable. We took a cab from our hotel and arrived a little after 4. The steel band was setting up and food prepping. We got great seats and were comfortable all night long despite the crowds. The food views and band are amazing! Must do! FYI: The food Portions are very large and we were able to split a plate.

Thursday night was fabulous. We arrived at 5pm. Busy but just the right amount of busy. Drink prices and very reasonable. Steel drum band was so fun and the band after played fan favorites for everyone to dance and sing a long. Such a "must do".

We booked to go via our resort which included the entry cost. Food and drink is payable at the location. Everyone we spoke to had recommended this trip and we can see why. Offered Thursdays and Sundays every week so try to go if you can.

This was a spectacular setting and the sunset was awe-inspiring. The journey (for us) was about 25 minutes from our resort. We arrived around 4.30pm so plenty of time before the sun started setting. A wonderful steel drum calypso band was playing on arrival and played for what seemed like ages - some stamina in the heat! Lots of local artisans selling products as well but not in a pushy way. Drink and food was reasonably priced - the food was delicious!

The views over English Harbour and beyond are jaw-dropping, even without the added sunset thrown in. There are plenty of tables - great to join with others for a chat beforehand. We couldn't take our eyes from the setting sun once it started - amazing! The evening continued with a great reggae band and dancing in the courtyard, not dampened by the slight rain. A great evening all round.

We went to Shirley heights today couldn’t get past security as we couldn’t pay to get in with a card. They said only cash. They told us where the nearest ATM was so we asked how much is it to get in. We were told it’s $15 USD each asked what is it in XCD as we use this currency in St Lucia. We were promptly told we don’t do local price. We found this strange. So on our way to the ATM I googled entry cost and it’s $10 USD each. I mean it’s only a $10 USD over charge but come on. Ripping people off for personal gain shouldn’t be happening. Didn’t return

Shirley Heights is a party with music and local food, The view over Shirley Harbor is beautiful. The ride to the venue shows a lot of the local neighborhoods—so it was interesting going as well as being there. The crowd is mostly visitors. The locals work very hard to serve up food and drink at a reasonable price. Standing in line waiting for the jerk chicken allowed me to talk to new people and compare experiences. The music and dancing start with steel drum band and later with a live band doing a mix.

The best way to get there is to hire a local driver who knows the area and can give insights (usually $100 a car, no matter how many people in it)

At the venue you can use USD or EC or credit cards.

One of the most spectacular views on the island.
Live music, food, dancing and atmos are all first class.
It's both Sunday and Thursdays, so don't feel the need to get there Sunday; they do it on Thursday with a smaller crowd.

We had a great night until I found out that if you pay by card and you think you are being generous by giving them a 10% 20% or 30% tip you are not. You are giving them $10 $20 or $30 USD.
So $4 for a bottle of beer is with what you think is a 10% tip is actually $14USD.
I only noticed this as I use Revolut and it flashed up on my phone when the amount came through.
This was tonight, had a great time tbh until I found this out which felt like they were taking the p out of peoples generosity so beware

The ambulance was great. The steel band, the live band were excellent. The food was tasty. I would like to say a massive thank you to KRISTEL. I am a Muslim and was gum smacked when KRISTEL approached me and realised I was only going to have a fish burger. Realising that all the burgers were grilled on the same bbq grill (even though apart), she told me she would have mine prepared in the kitchen. What is important here is the awareness. If you have an allergy or maybe a non meat eater, you are catered for. It wasn't a problem for KRISTEL to go that extra mile. This is the first time EVER that anyone has done this. THANK YOU KRISTEL.

I visited here with a Princess excursion. It was one of 3 stops and the views over the English Harbour and surrounding areas were fantastic. There is a bar inside a restored guard house, a gift shop and a small restaurant so there is not a lot to do other than enjoy the views!!

On Feb. 7th we docked at St. John’s in Antigua and took the “Scenic Antigua” tour. We began the tour by driving across the island to Shirley Heights Lookout. Shirley Heights is an historic military compound. It is the site of the former Fort Shirley, built in the 1780s to protect the Naval Dockyard in English Harbour. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The views here were fantastic. That is the reason to visit this place. The ruins of the fort are interesting but not really special. It's all about the views!

I highly recommend checking out this most beautiful view in Antigua. At the top of the mountain at Shirley Heights, you’ll see Galleon Beach, English Harbour (marina), & Falmouth Harbour (marina). This is one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.

I hiked the trail and it’s about 2 miles up (3.5 miles from Galleon Beach) and it’s a medium hiking trail. Older adults or those who don’t hike could not do this trail. I enjoyed this trail even though there were not stairs and the ground had more rocks and I held onto some trees for balance on the way up. I loved this trail and would definitely hike it every time I visit Antigua! Antigua is very hot so definitely bring a lot of drinks.

On Thursdays & Sundays, locals and tourists spend time together atop Shirley Heights. Most drive there and there’s a huge parking lot out back. People eat burgers, sandwiches, and the like for $15. There’s also a bar. I bought some waters at the top after my hike. Locals sell souvenirs like jewelry, coconut Christmas ornaments, and palm leaf art. I didn’t stay for this but it’s more crazy/more people on Sundays and less extreme on Thursdays. The event starts at 6 PM but you can show up any time afterwards.
