About
This stunning private island in Aruba is the perfect spot for a relaxing day by the sea. Here, you can hike the nature trails along the shore and visit the famous Flamingo Beach, where you can feed and take pictures with the resident flamingos—this beach is adult-only and kids can only go in the morning. You can go snorkeling at Iguana Beach too, which is more spacious and features private cabanas to rent and beach bars serving delicious tacos. Renaissance Hotel guests can visit the island for free, while other travelers can get a day pass. – Tripadvisor

- PaDenise22 contributionsEnjoyed This BeachAs a Renaissance Wind Creek guest this was the primary beach I visited. I recommend getting here early in the am to get a good spot on the beach. Both sides of the beach offer food and drink services directly to you. The family/iguana side is much more spacious and surprisingly not a lot of children (dependent on the time of year). The adult only side is much smaller but has the flamingos for photo op. The food and drinks were delicious. Would highly recommend!Dear PaDenise, Thank you for sharing your recommendation! It sounds like you had a great experience a guest at the beach our resort. Getting there early for a good spot and having food and drink services right at the beach are definitely perks. The presence of flamingos for a photo opportunity and the delicious food and drinks add to the appeal. Your high recommendation is much appreciated! - Erica B6 contributionsThe most wonderful day in paradise in the cabana! My friends and family spent the most wonderful day at a cabana last week. It was so relaxing and absolutely so worth it! Hildomar was our butler and he made the day even more spectacular! We had a cooler stashed with water, champagne and even a whole fruit platter! Hildomar made sure we had everything we wanted to eat and drink all day long! He was amazing! We even had special check-ins from the wonderful Javier and Anushka who run the whole island! If you’re ever thinking of renting a cabana for the day, do it!!! It’s so worth it and the only way to visit the island!Dear Eboogie313, It's wonderful to hear about your fantastic experience with Joisey, and we appreciate your detailed feedback. - Leah Z24 contributionsBeautifulLoved Renaissance Island, specifically Flamingo beach. We were able to get access to the island by booking a massage in the message cove via Okeanos Spa. We were on our honeymoon so enjoyed the adult only Flamingo Beach. When booking, we thought it was all-inclusive but that is not the case if you are not a guest at Renaissance Hotel, I believe. Personally, our message granted us access to a private hut with drinks and fruit and just made the stay even more enjoyable. Note the noise from the airport thats right behind the island; drink enough and you won’t notice. Loved all the wild life!Dear 703leahz, Thank you for sharing your experience on Renaissance Island, particularly Flamingo Beach. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time, especially since it was part of your honeymoon. Regarding the all-inclusive aspect, we apologize for any confusion. Indeed, access to certain amenities may vary, and we appreciate your understanding. We're glad you could immerse yourself in the beauty of the island and its wildlife. Your mention of the airport noise is duly noted, and we're delighted that the overall experience made it easy to overlook. - KevinLikesTravelNew York City, New York28 contributionsAbsolute ParadiseI’ve been to Renaissance Island twice, and I can honestly say I have NEVER felt more relaxed in my life. Get there on the first boat of the day and you can have the place practically to yourself. Find yourself one of the coveted beach chairs by a palm tree for some shade and watch the flamingos. Get a float so you can just let the movement of the water lull you to peace and comfort. Food and drinks are readily available, and because they limit occupancy, it will never feel too crowded. If you can find a way there, do it! 1) stay at the Renaissance and it’s included 2) get a day pass (very limited and not always available due to occupancy 3) book a service at the spa on the island. But do this way in advance. This place books up quickly. Pro tips: Bring a portable charger - outlets are limited. It’s the beach, after all. Get one of the blue floats. You won’t regret it. And when you’re not in the water, it makes a great mat for your beach chair. When you get off the ferry, the beach to the right is flamingo beach (adults only). Catch the flamingoes in the morning. They’ll often move to the other beach later in the day. The beach to the left is Iguana Beach, which is family friendly. If you are traveling without kids, Flamingo Beach will get you a little more serenity!Dear KevinLikesTravel, Thank you for sharing your incredible experience at Renaissance Island! We're delighted to hear that you found it to be a relaxing paradise and appreciate your detailed tips for fellow travelers. It sounds like you've mastered the art of making the most of your time on the island, from the serene beach chairs to the mesmerizing sight of flamingos. Your pro tips are invaluable for those planning a visit, and we're sure many will find them helpful. We hope to welcome you back to Renaissance Island for more moments of peace and comfort. - nes56Hackensack, New Jersey376 contributionsPricey but a unique experience at a clean and tranquil manmade beach.Still lovely and worth the trip but there have been some cutbacks. Only 1 towel per guest. Bring a microfiber quick dry travel towel. No more pool noodles. Bring inflatables cause their floating mats are unwieldy for little me to carry. Bring wipes and when I was there the restrooms by the massage hut on the family side were quite dirty. When I inquired about having the trash taken out and rooms cleaned they closed/locked them instead. Bring a thermal mug and your own water. I tipped $1 for ice. The flamingo food cost 25 cents. The birds are quite tame but by the afternoon their tummies are full and they’re tired from human interaction. The manmade beaches are quite shallow. Great for children but don’t bother with snorkel gear.Dear nes56, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent visit. We appreciate your honesty and value your insights. We're pleased to hear that you still found the experience lovely and worth the trip. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the cutbacks, and we appreciate your suggestions on how to make the most of your visit. We will certainly take your feedback into consideration as we continually strive to enhance our guests' experience. Your input about the cleanliness and restroom facilities is noted, and we'll address this matter promptly. I stayed at the Renaissance in September, as part of my family's timeshare. The island is a wonderful treat, as the resort doesn't have it's own beach per se. It's a quick 10 minute boat ride from the resort pier, with boats leaving every 15 mins. The island is well laid out with two beaches- Iguana and Flamingo Beaches- and several restaurant options. Due to Covid, we couldn't use the spa facilities, which was disappointing, but we did have access to the non-motorised water equipment, like the kayaks, scuba gear and floating mats. I enjoyed my time there, although I will say that food and drink is very expensive, as are the rentals of the private cabanas (over $300 Usd). Also, I found Flamingo beach to be a bit overrun with too many Instagrammers, all wanting to get their selfies. 😝 Overall though, it was a great perk to staying at the Renaissance and I'll definitely recommend visiting.

We were staying in Aruba for a week and spent one day on this fabulous little island! It was top notch from the second we stepped onto the boat that escorted us over to the island! Upon arrival, we were greeted at the dock by an cabana assistant that escorted us too our cabana. I had reserved one online a few weeks prior to our trip. I have heard that sometimes it fills up quickly, but I guess we were lucky! The "Flamingo" side (Adults only) of the island was booked, so I booked on the "Iguana" (Family Friendly) side. There were children there, but it wasn't distracting at all! We were escorted to our Canbana #4002 and introduced to Donovan our butler for the day (WHO WAS FABULOUS!!!) We were then surprised with some very nice touches that they had prepared for us! The cabana comes with towels, snorkel gear, an over the water hammock, a couch, chair, table, ice chest stocked with water and sparkling wine. There are steps from your private cabana down to the water for you to explore. After you are done exploring, there is a fresh water shower attached to your cabana so you can rinse off! It was a relaxing wonderful day! We never saw the iguanas but we dd make it over to the flamingo side to see the beautiful birds! They were awesome. We stayed ALL the way until sunset and the flamingos decided that they wanted to come to our side of the island. I don't know if they do this every day, but it was AMAZING! There were only about 12 people left on our side and it was so easy to interact with them with not a lot of people around. The cabana was pricey..but I felt that it was worth EVERY penny! If you are trying to decide to do it or not.... DO IT! Enjoy!

Staying at the Renaissance Hotel is definitely worth it. You get unlimited access to their private island which would be $100+ if you don’t stay there and it isn’t a guaranteed ticket. All of the cabanas were booked for my birthday, but after checking it out the second day of our stay, we realized we didn’t need one. There’s access to two beaches where one is exclusive for adults and where most of the flamingoes enjoy hanging out. We learned that they enjoy the iguana beach (family side) in the early morning, which is probably their travel route from their main food spot. Then around 8am or so, they get to the flamingo beach (adult side) and stay there for the majority of the day. Five of them are pretty social if you get food from the dispenser (US quarters), and the white one is a bit sassy and loves digging up critters in the water.
There are hammocks scattered around the island, including 2 hanging over the water. There’s free access to kayaks, snorkel gear, towels, and floats. Guests have access to the fitness center. There’s walking trails, bars, and a restaurant. Many places to sit and chill if you want to get away from crowds. The best time to go is early morning or the afternoon around 3pm when most people start to leave.
As I said, unlimited access has been the best. On days when we haven’t planned an event, we just take the boat ride to the island and chill at the beach. Beats paying the taxi $20+ to go to further beaches.

This private island is worth every single penny. The ride to and from was smooth and beautiful. The adult side and family side are both stunning with clear water. The flamingos are so cool and great for pictures. If you can book a massage, you won't regret it. My Husband and I purchased a couples massage for 4pm and were able to stay in the cabana and watch the sunset and just hang out until we left. If you book the last massage of the day just kindly ask if you can stay and you will have the whole cabana to yourself, its a great bonus. We left on the last boat at 6:45pm, we can't wait to go back.

Was able to secure a day pass on line (required), turned out to be the highlight of the trip. Arrived early to photograph a more active flamingo, they did not disappoint. You will need US quarters to get food from a dispenser to feed them. At least this day they were on the adult beach to start their day, but they do wander over to the family area from time to time. Ended up camping out on the family side most of the day as swimming is much less rocky there. Lunch was included with the day pass and is very good fare. Had a very friendly server, but my bad, I forgot to write down her name. So sorry. Also some of the iguanas and pelicans also tolerate close human contact making for nice photos. We had our own iguana for the day bribed with pieces of lettuce. If we didn't have dinner reservations for later that night would have stayed till the last boat to the mainland. Would highly recommend this day trip for adults and families.

This was my favorite part of Aruba. We have been quite taken aback by how built up things are and this Was just such a unique experience. One that we will remember for years.. The $125 per person price tag includes one food item and drink so that offsets <$40. The service, food/drinks, boat ride, and location made for magical day. I would recommend catching no later than the 815 boat to really see the flamingos. They were sleepy when we first got there but then right at nine, if ass on cue, started parading around.

My husband and I got married here many years ago, and have been staying at the Renaissance Hotel for a couple of times. So we know the island, and have seen the improvements, and the growing disappointments as well.
Definitely a unique place, and we would recommend everybody to visit once for this reason. The flamingo’s are a bucketlist oppertunity, as well as the ‘private island feel’.
However, the once exquisiteness of this place is in the past. Quality of food, drinks and service are gradually getting worse every year. Once a good snorkeling spot, now sealife has vanished for the most part with new cabana constructions and too shallow swimming areas.
Being commercial is a good thing, but it’s become a monster here. Everybody here has paid somehow to get on this island. Whether it’s a day pass, or you’re staying at the hotel (you’re paying indirectly). Why on earth are you asking 370 US Dollars extra to rent a cabana for the day? It’s not worth this much extra money. Yes, you get personal service, Voss water bottles, a bottle of Prosecco (they claim it’s champagne, shame on you!), use of towels, a hammock over the sea, a nice cabana with shaded seating area and two float beds. The price and benefits are completely out of proportion.
Pick a side Renaissance Management:
Are you offering the island as a facility to hotel guests to give the Renaissance the extra cache other hotels on the island can’t?
Or are you slowly turning it into a moneygrabbing, over-commercialized island accessible to anybody with US Dollars burning in their pocket?

This was such a hidden gem. When asking for recommendations about Aruba, Renaissance Island never came up. My girlfriend and I discovered this beautiful island from a travel blog and we were not disappointed. Typically a pass to this island (for non-Renaissance guests) is $125 a person plus a $25 per person transfer cost. However, if you book a spa treatment you get access to the island all day. We would highly recommend the massage. It is in a private hut, facing the water, away from the beach area. Total serenity!
Aside from all of the flamingos the island is covered in beautiful wild life. You'll see massive pelicans, lots of iguanas, hermit crabs, variety of fish and did we mention flamingos!
Drinks were strong and reasonably priced. The food was also pretty tasty. Heads up that the adult side of the island is much smaller than the kid friendly side, and this is where the majority of the flamingos hung out. If you get there early you shouldn't have too much trouble securing a beach chair, but it does tend to get a little crowded on both sides as the day goes on. By 3pm people were heading back to the main island and seats were opening again.
Kayaks, paddle boards, floating boards and other activities are included as part of your island access.
Perfect way to spend half a day in paradise!

We had a wonderful time taking the boat from the Adult Only Renaissance Hotel where the boat picked us up in the hotel. 10 minute ride to the island. We enjoyed the Iguana beach because of the abundant covered thatched roof umbrellas and abundant seating. We were able to get complementary towels, snorkeling equipment, floats, kayak, and paddle boards at no extra cost. We went down to the docks to watch them feed the iguanas at noon. The other side was flamingo beach which is the Adult only beach. Enjoyed feeding the flamingos, you can get food right there at the dock for $.25 and they eat right out of your hand. The adult beach was narrow and crowded. Food and drinks on the island were reasonable. The boat goes back and forth every 15 minutes throughout the day so you're not having to wait to long coming or going.

We chose to stay at the Renaissance specifically to get access to the private island and it was the highlight of our trip! We spent 3 days of our trip here and loved every second of it.
The water is a little chilly depending on the weather but never got too cold while we were there, and most days it was refreshing with how hot the sun was. The water is such a beautiful shade of blue pictures don't do it justice.
There are 6 flamingos and you can buy a small container of food for them for only a quarter. The flamingos are very friendly as long as guests don't over crowd them. We were able to feed them multiple times.
Even though we stayed on the flamingo side of the island, iguanas frequently came over when they smelled food which was a pleasant surprise. Just be careful to cover your food if you see an iguana because it will climb on your chair and take your food!
Speaking of food, during our multiple days at the island we were able to try the flamingo wrap with side salad, jerk chicken pizza, seafood pizza, and new orleans bbq shrimp with garlic bread and fries all of which were delicious. We weren't expecting much because where we're from beach food is normally not very impressive but we were pleasantly surprised because all of the food was great. The drinks were delicious as well. I would recommend any of the daquiris, the blue ocean, and of course the aruba ariba!
Thank you Renaissance Island for some relaxation during this stressful year!

How do I get a private cabana on Renaissance Island?
Written 5 October 2024
For the "Dushi Aruba This Way, Party Like A Local" does it include drinks? If not what is the average drink price? Is the food and entertainment alright?

Hello! I have booked a stay for one night so I may have access to the private island.
Questions please ☺️
1. For those of you who stayed 1-night, the day of checkout what did you do with your luggage (checkout is 12). Was hoping to stay most of the day of checkout at the private island's beach.
2. Any tips on best Cabana to book on Iguana side?
3. All the 6 people Cabanas are booked. I have a group of 2 adults, 2 seniors and 2 children (3,9). For the 4 people cabana ...are kids included in that maximum .. is it 4 ppl in at any given time or 4 of the same individuals throughout the day? How is it enforced? Thanks so much!!

The hotel is very good for people with mobility issues. As far as the private island, the hardest part will be getting on the boat which takes you there. It should be easy to move around the island in a wheelchair. Enjoy it, we did.

If I bring floaties for pool and beach on flamingo island, will the hotel blow up for me? Does the flamingo island have a hut to blow up pool floats?
Written 16 February 2024
No but the private island has free floats. Bring a small pump for your own.
