As you drive around Aruba, you'll see the Hooiberg most of the time. We've hiked up several mountains or volcanoes on past island trips (my favorite was St. Kitts), so we thought we'd give this one a try. It's pretty high and there are great...More

This little hill was the most difficult place to find. We drove around for 30minutes and asked 5 people exactly how to access the stairs. Basically, drive southeast on the 4 towards Piedra Plat. Turn right at the sign that states Hooiberg, drive to the...More

My husband and I made a day of hiking to Hooiberg, and once we reached the top found we had to squeeze around the telecommunication towers. There really was no where to comfortably enjoy the amazing view. Still, we are glad we made the effort...More

The tallest "peak" on the island. Does not worth the trip there because there are so many beautiful beaches and other attractions on the island. Do not waste your time.

Hooiberg is a great free attraction for those who have a moderate level of activity to climb the 561 steps to the peak. Given the high daytime temperatures, I recommend visiting around 5.30pm when it is cooling off and you can also catch the sunset....More

be ready to sweat... but it's definitely worth the view. Would recommend this as a great way to get out of the resort area and experience the islands landscape.

Great place... no hassle from people trying to sell things, the people are smiling and friendly. All the beaches are beautiful and the food was delicious over all. Downtown can be a little pricey. ALWAYS negotiate.

So the locals use this place as an evening workout place. There is a class that meets at the bottom of the steps and a lot of people climbing the "Haystack" just for the workout. The word translates as Haystack by the way. Bring water...More

No snakes that we saw - a few bugs -and a quick rain shower. Not a volcano just a high hill on the island. Best tackled early in the day or late afternoon.
