Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Seroe Colorado was and still is a special place located at the southern tip of the island. What once was a thriving community of Esso employees and their families it is now trying to find a new identity. A mixture of boarded up houses and freshly repainted houses produce a surrealistic atmosphere where the question: is it inhabited or deserted? occupies your mind. Once it was all kept in pristine shape till Esso pulled out in 1985. Memories of the bowling alley, the movie theater, the diner slowly come back as well as walking with bare feet on the hot asphalt when i was a kid and later listening to Jimi Hendrix while exploring the depths of my teenager mind. Nowadays Roger's beach and baby beach attract local and international crowds while investors are trying to decide what it eventually will become. Seroe Colorado a place with history and an uncertain future.......

This is a community on the southern most part of the island adjacent to the oil refinery. The drive to this part of the island gives you a sense of what how Aruba’s people live. Baby beach is located near by. On each side of baby beach is a restaurant. Either pf these would make a place to stop and have a lunch or a beer. The best part of this area is the view from the site of the old light house. The light house is gone replaced by a beacon. From this point you can see views of both the south coast and much of the island. The best way to find it is to go to the center of this small community and just head south and weave your way through the streets until you find the road leading out to the light house. It will the only road that takes you south out of the community. My suggestion would to come here and then work you way up visiting other attractions to make a half day or full day trip. The roads are good so you do not need a four wheel drive.

Over the last few years Alto Vista Chapel has become a tourist attraction worth visiting and many do. It has become a stop-over place for buses and safari jeeps and many island-explorers come to have some shaved ice or coconut juice at the local stall. Form time to time tourists even come here to get married. Alto Vista chapel is very unpretentious; it is just small chapel located on the northern side of the island overlooking the ocean. Many locals come to visit the chapel daily as well.To them this is a sacred place, a place for prayer and contemplation. Sometimes the world of the visiting tourist and the world of the local looking for a quiet seem at odds with each other yet those who are attentive may realise this is a special place........Just a few yards towards the ocean is the Peace Labyrinth. It is designed like the labyrinth of the Cathedral in Chartres, France. The labyrinth which was developed by a local some odd years ago extends an invitation to the visitor to walk the labyrinth in mindfulness and to experience hope for peace and understanding. As such both the chapel and the labyrinth may offer the profound experience of just being aware, right there and then...in spite of all the activity going on at that moment

This was on my to do list in aruba. We hired a guide for a day, and when i told him i wanted to come here, he didn't understand why. There's nothing special about it, having so many other incredible places around.... the place itself is not pretty, and aside from a nice ocean view, that's about it. Don't waste your time.

The most spectacular views on the island and if you are looking for privacy you'll have it. It's a MUST see and on the way to Baby Beach so don't miss it! I promise you'll love it!

How Seroe Colorado doesn't make the top of the to-do lists is beyond me. While it's a bit out of the way, it's very close to Baby Beach, and is one of the most amazing views we've ever experienced. The waves, rocks, sky, and natural beauty are incredible. Even the wind turbines in the distance are scenic. Definitely worth the drive- go at sunset!

I have been here many, many times. We even found the pet cemetary a few years back. What amazes me is the size of the prison in comparison to the population of Aruba. Baby Beach has remained the same. The homes up in the oil refinery look to be abandoned. Some appear to be lived in, but then others look to be ready to torn down. We explore

Seroe Colorado Lighthouse
San Nicolas, Aruba
There are other gorgeous very small natural bridges in the Seroe Colorado Lighthouse area toward the Baby Beach. Seroe Colorado is the home of Baby Beach, Rodgers Beach and Colorado point at the southeast of the island. The Valero Oil Refinery Company in located down toward this area. The volcanic rock cliffs are beautiful. The island prison is located in this area; you can see it from the Lighthouse. Last year (2012) I believe the lighthouse was painted red but this year (2013) I see it is painted black. You will come across donkeys and goats in this area. Be careful with the donkeys, they will come up to the vehicles because we saw people feeding them carrots.

If you like natural beauty, don't miss Seroe Colorado. It's a great place to see what Aruba looked liked many years ago, probably just like when it was first discovered. Other than a few roads, the landscape is natural and untouched. The anchor tribute is so appropriate and very significant.
While you're at it, don't forget to enjoy an afternoon at Baby Beach. You won't be sorry!!!!
