Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This area was definitely worth the trip from Oranjestad. The area itself is desolate, so beware that you may be on your own for awhile if you lock your keys in your car or need a bathroom, etc. The area itself just had new masonry done which allows patrons to access the steps easier. There is an area across the street to light a candle near a small statue.

A beautiful roadside grotto that is on both sides of the road. A quick stop…Located just outside of San Nicolas!

I had visited Ste Lourdes in France and when I learned about this grotto it was a must to visit. It was a bit difficult to find as it’s on the road but we were glad we did stop there. A beautiful setting and well maintained grotto.

The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was built in 1958 on the 100 year anniversary of the Blessed Virgin Mary appearing to Bernadette Soubirous near Lourdes, France. It is located in Seroe Preto and we arrived here on a bus tour. There is a Grotto on both sides of the highway. There is room to park on the side of the highway, but be very cautious crossing the street! Definitely recommend a visit especially if you are Catholic.

This grotto extends on both sides of the road. I did not attend a mass here but would love to if I had the opportunity. The grotto was bigger than I expected. You can sense that this grotto is a special place for many locals. I recommend making time to go here with the intention to have quiet time and simply be present.

What a beautiful place with a backdrop of the Pyrenees.
The shops, restaurants & accommodation may all be closed as owners R&R before it all ramps up again. But one can still find tne occasional one, enough to satisfy one's needs. We are staying at the lovely Villa L'Orante.
The grotto & its beautiful & spiritual surrounds are all available & oh so peaceful during this low season. Masses said in different languages. Rosary said at dusk by the grotto. The Way of The Cross is along a moderately steep path but so very worthwhile!!!
Highly recommend a visit to Lourdes in January. Tne days have been beautiful. Cold but clear skies.
My husband & I have loved our visit.

Good trip. We arrived at approximately 10:30 am and made our way up the stairs leading to the grotto. The grotto was very nicely decorated for the Christmas holiday, and the caves surrounding the decorations were jaw-dropping. There were several benches in front of the grotto, that visitors could sit on during mass.

Tip: I recommend spending 15 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.

The Grotto is on both sides of the road so make sure you walk up the stairs to both. Each is beautifully tucked into shallow caves in the rock with religious statues and altars in place. One side is clearly used for worship ... outdoor seating is present. I must admit that seeing the nativity scene and Christmas decorations given the heat of day seemed a little out-of-place for a Canadian who only experiences these things in snow but it was worth the visit.

I enjoyed praying in this grotto, felt like I've seen the real grotto which someday I would love to visit.
Very solemn area to reflect and say your prayers. There's an area where you light a candle for any petitions you may have.
