- Sheargenius55New Hampshire196 contributionsBeautiful beachWe LOVED this beach. We came right before the season kicked off and there was not a soul on the beach. It was wonderful. The water was amazing especially when it was only 65 out. The water and sand were gorgeous, I can’t wait to come back.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2024
- Nick FHoulton, Maine7 contributionsGo to the beaches DON’T go to Sunjammers Bar & Grill!!Beautiful beaches. There are 7 that you can walk to. Most people just stay put in the first beach but I highly recommend walking to the other beaches. DO NOT go to Sunjammers Bar & Grill. Worst food and service I’ve ever experienced. Rude waitstaff. We waited 50 minutes for some dry chicken fingers and limp fries, they didn’t have the fish bites so they fried up random pieces of fish that looked horrible, my friend ended up getting a hotdog instead. Drinks are pricey. Bring a snack, stick to the beach!Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 August 2024

Jammers bar, perfect to grab some great
cold drinks while you spend the day at
Clearwater beach. They also have sunbeds and umbrellas you can hire for the day! The beach is amazing. There's lots of little beaches just past
Jammers too with a great viewing tower.
Jammers is a must visit if in Bermuda, it has
lovely clean toilets and also a shower station
to clean off that sand before getting back in
the car. I would highly recommend a visit

Spent two days at Clearwater Beach during our visit. Recommended to us by Bermudians as an alternative to the crowds and man o’war that descended on the South beaches. We hiked out to Cooper’s Island and spent the rest of the day lounging at this calm protected beach hidden behind the airport. Sunjammer’s is an authentic spot favored by locals with a chill vibe great for a drink or two. Better yet get a fish sandwich - simply the best sandwich I have ever had!

Great Beach. Perfect Sand. Calm Water. Less crowded then many. Close to Coopers Island as well. Sandy as you walked out. Drops off fairly quickly. Would highly recommend and would go back again. We enjoyed this much more than Stopping by horseshoe. Was more low key and more locals at this beach.

Clearwater beach is amazing. Near the airport so you see planes coming in. No biggy. It has a huge playround, showers, bathrooms and clear water and white sand. Water is completely calm so family friendly. Minimal fish but snorkel friendly anyway. Beach is huge and wide. Water shallow close to shore. A must to visit. Spend all day.

My wife and I visited Bermuda via cruise ship for 3 days. Exploring new places is a favorite of ours, never staying too long in one place so we can see what else is out there. We heard Clearwater beach was out of the way, uncrowded and absolutely gorgeous. We jumped on our moped first thing one morning and set out from the Dockyard all the way to the far side of the island.
After almost an hour drive, we drove across the causeway toward the airport which was beautiful. We went around the airport, but instead of taking the roundabout to St. George we continued on to Clearwater. Going by moped is best. Less traffic, straighter and wider streets and beautiful views. Some of the buses do not go all the way to Clearwater and you are in store for some serious walking back and forth.
We arrived to find 3 locals swimming in the water, and the rest of the beach to ourselves. The beach is nice, but the area around it looks like it has seen better days. There is a small "non working" restroom building that's still open. The grass was mowed, but not around the playground area. It reminded me of a once happening place perhaps when cruise ships still docked in St. George.
We opted not to swim, but walk the beach, picking up a few pieces of sea glass. We jumped back on the moped and wanted to follow the road till it ended on the map. To our disappointment, at the end of the next beach (Turtle Bay), the road continued but was blocked and barricaded for vehicle traffic. It was, however, accessible by foot!
Previously part of the US Naval Air Station and a former NASA tracking station, walking this path is the real treat of moving beyond Clearwater Beach! Beautiful beaches, rocks and coastlines merge together and end at what is now called "Cooper's Island Nature Reserve". Take my word for it, it's worth the walk. The rest is for you to discover yourself.
I've included a number of pictures, some of Clearwater, some are part of the reserve. Be sure to look at the caption to see which is which.

This beach is not easy to get to from most places on the island. We took 3 buses to get here on advice from locals that said it is the best on the island. We agree. We came back the next day and spent the whole day! It is uncrowded for sure! There is a restaurant called Gombeys. Marline was a great manager of the place. Loved the jerk chicken and fresh fish sandwiches. You can rent umbrellas, etc. Lifeguards on duty too. If you take the PROPER bus that says St Peters and Clearwater, you get dropped off directly on Clearwater beach. If you want to explore, keep walking passed the beach. There are several there. The one at the end is awesome. You need to go through a gate to go on to the Cooper Nature Preserve. My camera never too so many pictures. We found several snorkeling areas after we watched the snorkel tours drop anchor in these areas!!! We did it for free :) :) the beach to the right of the last beach is the best for snorkeling. On the right you will see a rock formation that juts out - snorkel there and just around it! Best ever. Huge purspe sea fans and coral. Large fish!
If you want calmer water, go the last beach on the left. You wade in crytal clear water with sargent majors nipping at you and silver fish checking you out. Wade in a bit more and see parrot fish as large as my arm! The snorkeling on this side was amazing too. So worth the trek to see this place! Reminded me of a postcard.

We went to Clearwater Beach and Turtle Bay Beach for the day! These beaches were away from our ship in Dockyard, but well worth the effort. We got off the ship and took the free Norwegian ferry to St. George’s. We then got a “gypsy” taxi driver who charged us each $5/person. We got a beautiful tour of the island on the way to Clearwater Beach. The beach itself was beautiful with hardly anyone there. There is a bar with food and alcohol along with facilities. Chair rentals were $10/each, but we spent most of our time in the water. We then followed the path over to Turtle Bay Beach, literally a 2 min. walk. Did not disappoint, but there are no facilities there! We got really great pictures of the planes coming in over the water to land at the Bermuda airport! Really great beach day with family and friends! Important tip: be sure to make arrangements with your taxi driver to come back and get you at a designated time. Taxi’s do not just hang out there. There is also an island ferry from Dockyard to St. George’s if you are not on NCL.

We love all the beaches in Bermuda but this series of beaches out on Cooper's Island are the very best. A little difficult to get to but well worth the effort. Clearwater, Turtle Bay, and Long Beach are never very crowded especially during the week. The snorkeling is always nice at Long Beach with fewer people packed in than Tobacco Bay. The water is calm and more shallow than some south shore beaches. There is even a little light house to explore. A restaurant also out there to get lunch which you can eat in the shade out by Long Beach.

The description of Royal Caribbean's Bermuda Triangle Beach and Nature Reserve excursion tour needs to be updated. It describes the tour at the beach to sound like you are getting lunch and chairs with umbrellas for the price, but that is not true. They tried charging us for the chairs and umbrellas but we told them it was part of the excursion package. The lunch is not provided either so don't be fooled by the description. The drinks are said to be a cash bar so we knew that. We didn't get lunch as part of the package. We told them that lunch was supposed to be provided and also the chairs and umbrellas. They gave in to the chairs and umbrellas but they said the lunch would be extra. 30 minutes before our excursion there was to end, they knew we were not happy with what we got for what we paid and said we could have a burger and fries. TOO LATE. Royal Caribbean gave all 13 of us half our money back.

I’ll be in Bermuda next week. How long is the ride from the cruise ship to Clearwater beach whether bus or taxi?
Written 25 October 2022
You will most likely be docked at the Royal Navy Dockyards and a taxi will take about an hour as the beach is right behind the airport on the other side of the island. If you happen to dock in St. George’s it will take about 15 minutes. A bus will take longer. Check with the cruise ship and see if there is a trip to the Crystal Cave and Clearwater Beach as they are fairly close to each other and you could do both the same day. Enjoy!

Are there paddle board rentals at Clearwater beach, if so how much? also do you need water shoes? thanks
Written 19 January 2020
I would recommend water shoes, some parts of the water were rocky. They do rent chairs, but I’m not sure about paddle boards.

I will be in Bermuda in early November. Is the water still warm enough for swimming?
Written 18 August 2019
Good day. We are happy to hear that you are coming to Bermuda in November. The average water temperatures in early November are typically in the low- to mid-70's. Our visitors swim in our beautiful ocean waters all year round!! We hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi, I'm coming to Bermuda on a cruise line. I'd like to get to Clearwater beach. What's the best way to get there, since it's on the opposite side of the islands from the Royal Naval Dockyard? Helen
Written 18 July 2019
Good day. We are happy to hear that you are coming to Bermuda for a visit. There are several ways for you to reach Clearwater Beach including the public bus, taxi service, mini-bus service or electric vehicle rental. Scooters are also available for rent, but would only recommend that for experienced motor scooter riders. Or you could take the ferry to the Town of St. George and then bus/taxi over in a 10 minute ride. It's a great way to see the island from the water. Lastly, if you are coming a cruise, several companies offer a package to Clearwater which includes the ferry, transport, beach rentals, etc.
These suggestions may help....
Electric Twizy Rentals from Current Vehicles
Electric Vehicle (EV) Rentals from Rugged Rentals
Scooter and EV Rentals from Oleander Cycles
Packages through Beach Boys Ltd / Tobacco Bay

Take an excursion or the ferry?
Written 5 January 2019
Good day! This depends on the time of year that you're planning to visit. There is no direct ferry to Clearwater Beach, but if you're not staying in the East End, you can get a ferry to St. George and then a bus or taxi from there. In the summer, you can get a bus from St. George direct to the Beach. Also in the summer, there are reliable tour operators who organize visits to the beach. In the off season there are taxi drivers and tour operators who can also assist you in getting to Clearwater Beach. We hope you come and visit. It's a lovely part of the Island.
