Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visitied this place and despite some poor reviews, we thought it was very nice. Its free and their was some interesting flowers and trees. Its open surise to sunset, so go early when its cooler and crowded. A very nice walk. It is likely that the best time to go is late spring when things are in full bloom. We had a nice visit for about an hour. Light walking with some inclines but very accessible. Enjoy !

The Bermuda Botanic Gardens are a nice place to visit if you have some spare time. They would be particularly good for visitors with mobility issues as there are many smooth paths. Additionally, for those who are blind or partially sighted, there is a small but varied sensory garden.
You can get the bus there from Hamilton or if you have the time, it is a nice walk along the water from Hamilton (and then up quite a steep hill)! It has public loos on site.
This was one of the few attractions on Bermuda that was free, although given the abundant flowers across the whole island, I did wonder if you might be as well just walking past some gardens outside of Hamilton!

Supposed to be open on Sundays, it was not. Signs said cafe open. It was not. Sign says restrooms open. They were not. Two distant portable toilets were found in a parking lot. They were in horrible shape, not maintained, no water or soap to wash hands - place looked abandoned.

The Botanical Gardens are really a public park with a few trees and flower beds.
With the tropical weather of Bermuda, one might expect a scientific based garden with organized and labelled plants and trees. Nothing of the sort. An old aviary sits empty and sad. Probably best for the birds. There were several workers trying their best to make a pleasant experience. A nice public park period.

We’ve been to many botanical gardens. This was far and away the worst. Poor signage, disjointed paths, and bad displays. It was a wasted and disappointing several hours. If you are visiting Bermuda, perhaps this review will save you some lost time.

The travel guides say this is a great place to visit, but it’s apparently not what it once was. The locals say the budget has been cut and staffing reduced and it shows. Much of what was once an intriguing displace of native and other plants is not well maintained and overall the facility needs more care and attention. Even so, it was a nice place to take a walk away from the constant traffic noise of the city streets.

Bermuda Botanical Garden opened to the public in 1898. We took a free guided tour at 10:30am last Wednesday from a great volunteer. Georgia O'Keefe and John Lennon's creativity was reinvigorated, and they were inspired to continue their artistic endeavors after visiting the gardens. Unfortunately, Lennon was assassinated after the completion of his Double Fantasy album. It has fallen on hard times. It would be so easy to get school or corporate volunteers to give some tender loving care to these gardens. It is mind boggling to understand why this is not happening.

My wife and I were extremely disappointed with the Bermuda Botanic Gardens. Despite being located in a wonderful site next to the hospital, and having extensive lawned grounds with shady areas in which to escape the heat of the sun, many of the collections of plants were housed in locked buildings that we could not enter. The Aviary was almost comical in being presented as a wonderful display of rare birds; one of the separate cages only contained two coloured brooms whilst a few peacocks, a single parrot and a few other unidentified birds graced other cages.
The best feature of the site was Homers Cafe which had an good range of food and drinks for sale. Unlike the rest of the Gardens, there had clearly been a significant investment in this facility. The Gardens illustrate the problem of trying to maintain a facility which does not charge for entry.

This could be a really fabulous attraction, however, it is suffering from some neglect. Great location just up from Hamilton, easy to find and reach by foot, public transport . or by car. Some interesting plants, however, the entire place is in need of some TLC. , it does have a notice stating undergoing renovation. The kitchen garden could be such a vibrant area with some more work on it. The aviary is very sad with two lonely parrots and nothing much around them. Good car parking and great views from the site. Nice cafe serving cakes and snacks. Very disappointing "educational area" which is clearly not used and is currently barricaded with an assortment of chairs. In conclusion, a good quiet place to visit on a hot day with some good shade. Do not expect too much. Such a shame as it could be wonderful.

Sadly, they now look nothing like the picture to the right. Really, they have fallen into disrepair!
Tourists shouldn't bother to visit in the hot summer.

Some guidebooks say that there is a guided walk on Wednesday and Friday. Others say on a Sunday.
We shall be in Bermuda Late November.
Can anybody provide confirmation of dates and times?

What I would suggest is going on their website and most likely there you would find the most updated information. We just walked around the gardens by ourselves and did not inquire If there was a walk. The gardens are very pretty.

Is it open in December and are the plants in bloom then?
