Baobab

Huge very old baobab. Interesting story. Near the stadium. No recreated places. But photos are great. If you have a little bit free time - go and see it. It's really wow tree.

We visited here while exploring downtown Bridgetown one afternoon. It is a fairly easy walk from downtown and the grounds are nice and peaceful. There is not a whole lot to see or do other than take photos of the impressive baobab tree. There were a few shave ice sellers in the park so after taking photos my husband and... More

I went to AgroFest and had a great time, 3 days of agricultural things. You can but produce, visit exhibts, see animals on show, there is an area for the children. The park is used for a lot of events apart from Afrofest which is in February, Christmas day with the Royal Police Band, the Steelshed where concerts are carried... More

..... plenty of seating, some interesting historic buildings and maintained gardens. Worth a wander around and ideal for a picnic as it's not too far from the many city throng. BUT you do get the feel that as well as the ongoing work the whole park could do with a good tidy up et al.

This Park is more like an estate in the middle of Bridgetown, reached along Constitution Road, and includes the former residence of the Commander for the West Indies of the British Garrison. As such it is imposing in the British Imperial tradition, with whitewashed buildings, grounds that appear a little tired in the dry season and in need ofr a... More

Nothing remarkable about this park, notwithstanding that parks are always nice in a busy town, except for the 1000 year old baobab. How this non-native tree happened to arrive in Barbados and grow there is explained on the plate. Imagine a West African seed braving the Atlantic currents and finding its roots on the opposite side of this island... Isn't... More

We walked from the Cruise Ship dock into town so we could walk along the waterfront boardwalk. When we got to the park there were several unsightly characters hanging out there. One tried to approach us but, unfortunately for him and fortunate for us there was a policeman close by and chased him away. It is a very small park... More

Queen's Park, Bridgetown's only park, came about December 1782, as a result of the American Revolutionary War that a permanent British garrison should remain in Barbados. Queen’s House, along with twelve acres, became a public park in 1909. The Baobab Tree or Monkey Bread Tree, which is part of the park, is about 250 years old and has a trunk... More
