This Flamingo sanctuary is at the Bonaire's southern tip.
Bear in mind you cannot access it to watch the flamingos from close. So, when you're around the second row of slave huts (the yellow ones) look inland over the pond. You'll see a huge pink mass in a distance - thousands of them.
Drive slowly around the whole southern tip, as you'll see them at several spots in smaller schools - picture perfect ops of pink flamingos in turquoise water.

Nice place, really huge. You can see how much the nature is wild: water, ocean, sand, rocks and a lot of wind. We just expected more from the flamingos reserve. They are really far away from you and you can just stay on the street to wacht them or take some pictures. You are not allowed to get too close. It makes sense because is a Natural reserve. But it should be improved a bit founding a compromise between the security of the animals and the touristic point of interesting.

We drove to the sanctuary as had wanted to snorkel the salt pier but the ship was there. Forgot our binoculars although we read about taking them. You can still see the many flamingos although most are far. Very interesting to see flamingos in the wild again. (Can see them close up at gotomeer in the north).

The Flamingo Sanctuary is on the north end of Bonaire in Lake Goto. We saw over 100 flamingos during our drive along the shore. The Flamingos are shy so you need to stay in your vehicle and take pictures out the window. We were told that during the nesting season (January to July) upwards of 15,000 flamingos visit the lake.

Wonderful to see flamingos in their natural habitat. You can’t get close, but you may get lucky enough to have a flock fly over! They landed near the road just before we saw he signs for the sanctuary. Truly amazing, but you must have a good camera with a long lens. I used our rented golf cart to steady my camera which is necessary at a great distance.

Loved Bonaire! The flamingos made our whole trip for me! Check out the photos and like them.

Spent an afternoon after some great diving touring the island. The pink flamingos are so lovely. Great island drive to the north end. Saw about 20 birds along the shoreline. Many great photo ops. Then on the way back to Kralendijk we stopped at the wind mills along the shore. Donkeys, pink flamingos, island breezes, just a Great way to enjoy nature!

Took a taxi from the port and had a tour of the island. The beaches are a lovely hue, ranging from aqua to royal blue. The slave huts made us aware of the hardships they had all those years ago. The salt mounds were beautiful, shining from afar. And the pink lake was simply a wonder to see, in contrast to the blue sea across the road. I only wished we could have climbed a high building or tower to see it from above, what a sight that must be!

Seeing the flamingos in this open, natural environment was a real treat. As a Floridian, I'd been to many locations where I had seen groups of flamingos crowded together in a small area, but here, the flamingos had lots of space. It was quite beautiful to see, and is worthy of a drive through while on a tour of the island.
