Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An old fort with some cannons and a lighthouse, it's a nice photo op and has history behind it.
Never seems to be open.

We walked by on our way back to our cruise ship. Very close to the dock. Easy walking; less than two blocks.

Interesting unknown history. We had no idea and it is interesting to see the history. We stumbled across this and it is worth the stop.

It looks beautiful and historical. We didn't go inside, just looked outside. Very beautiful place, near the cruise terminal.

It was a nice visit on the beach at the fort. We climbed it and it was really windy but beautiful. Many fun rock ornaments on the beach and the weather was great. Learn a bit of history before you go, otherwise it will look like a pile of rocks for you.

Not much to see. The tower is worth a picture or two and there's a few cannons where the fort walls would be. Ok for the history of it and a few pics. Otherwise, not much to it. No more than 5-10 minutes needed at this site.

Pulling into the harbor on the Carnival Horizon, Ft. Oranje was the 1st thing to catch our eye sitting along the harbor with its attractive orange facade and red roofs. Built in 1639 by the Dutch West India Company, it is the oldest structure on the island. It was rebuilt in 1816 and named Ft. Oranje and the lighthouse was added in1932. It apparently never saw battle and in its later years has been used as a prison, fire department, police department and museum. It was nice to walk around the small complex and try to interpret some of the plaques written in Dutch.

From a distance you'd never think this being a fort. However when we disembarked took a short walk - yellow painted walls with few cannons and a lighthouse.
Just a pass by attraction 5 min from the cruise port.

It was impossible to miss Fort Oranje coming off the cruise boat to get to the Bonaire Cruise Market and walking through downtown Kralendijk. Some great views overlooking the ocean and the architecture of the buildings. There were a couple of courtyards where my daughter and I sat down to enjoy the trees and the chirping of the birds in the hot hot sun! Not that Fort Oranje is a must thing to see, but if you’re in the vicinity, why not check it out!?
