Cave Tours Bonaire was recommended to us by family and we are so pleased we booked with them! We went on an early morning trip (08.00 start) and after an initial meet and greet with our guide Dirk and fellow participants (CTB takes a max of 6 people on each tour in total, which is great) we drove in our own cars to the first Cave. Dirk is Dutch, but speaks excellent English. We were given a very interesting talk on the geological history of Bonaire and made our way to the Cave. The entrance was simply a hole in the ground with a bolted in ladder to take you down. Dirk gave clear and concise instructions and we all made it down without any problems. This first Cave was full of beautiful stalagtites and stalagmites and other "stalag-somethings" which Dirk will tell you all about. We saw a few bats and even spotted a goat and an elephant🙂! The second Cave was at the newly developed Karst Nature Reserve and features an underground lake with crystal clear warm water in which you can snorkle. Getting into this Cave is slightly more technical as a rope is required, however Dirk expertly guided us safely down and afterwards back out. To get into the small lake is slightly tricky as the opening is low. Cleaner shrimp will happily nibble away at your feet. Dirk also gives the option to dive under a Cave wall to another lake. This requires holding your breath for 15 - 20 seconds. Dirk again will keep you safe if you take up the offer. We did the tour with our 10 year old daughter (CTB does not take children younger than 10) and she was absolutely fine. Trainers are required for the tour but you don't need any footwear for the snorkeling, just your goggles +/- snorkle. Thank you Dirk for an unforgettable experience and good luck with your business and the Karst Nature Reserve.

Thanks so much for this review! I had a blast with the Skye Team. And Arianah did all the climbing as a pro!
Thanks again!

Our tour really took to us to a different part of Bonaire's nature. Thanks to the excellent instructions and pacing of the cave tour, we felt safe all the time, eventhough the activity was physically challenging in multiple ways (heat, climbing, darkness). Most importantly, the guide is super enthusiastic and entertaining in teaching you a bit about the geology and nature in the caves. Besides diving, this was the next best coolest thing I've done on Bonaire, and I can really recommend CTB for an exciting, entertaining and safe visit to the caves.

Had a lot of fun with our guide, Dirk! His knowledge of the caves that he took us to was extensive, but the tour still felt just as much recreational as educational. Furthermore, Dirk left no doubt that safety came first and was very patient and professional with guiding our group of novice spelunkers. The caves themselves are a wonder to behold. Can't recommend highly enough!

Wow! Having done this tour, I can't imagine anyone coming to Bonaire and not exploring its caves. And most importantly, I can't imagine exploring them without an experienced guide like Dirk of CTB.
I'm a single mom with two teenage kids who came to Bonaire to dive and check out the local highlights. We signed up with Dirk to explore one dry and one wet cave (which we snorkeled in).
Dirk's knowledge of the island is immeasurable (and so is his passion). We learned so much about Bonaire's formation and how it continues to evolve. We gained so much information and appreciation of geology in general!
Dirk took such great care of helping us descend down the jagged caves and carefully walk and snorkel thru them. He pointed out so many specific details throughout the caves - specific types of stalagtites/mites and how long it would take just an inch of one to grow. We awaited the arrival of the "cleaner shrimp" to our feet, and during that time we saw one of the elusive fish that live down there. Pure beauty.
Exploring the caves of Bonaire with Dirk / CTB is a must if visiting Bonaire. We highly recommend doing the wet and dry tour to gain a full appreciation of their wonder.
Thank you, Dirk, for bringing such an unexpected highlight to our vacation!

Overall our guide, Dirk, was amazing! He was friendly, comedic, helpful, and spoke wonderful English. There are two caves you see, one dry and one with water. Even when I felt really nervous about climbing down while having to hang on to a rope, Dirk helped encourage me that I could do it ( I’m petrified of heights and it’s a huge hole that descends down with slippery rocks!). It was well worth the anxiety I had; the caves were gorgeous and Dirk told comedic stories to heighten the entertainment value. It is easy to see that he’s a passionate guide and that he isn’t just doing this job for the money, but because he truly loves it and is happy in this role! The snorkelling in the second cave was magical and it was incredible to see the formations under water, and to see the little shrimp. I wouldn’t suggest this tour if you have terrible knees, mine are sore after our adventure. Nonetheless, I feel the three of us were in capable hands with Dirk. Thanks for a memorable experience !!

Dirk leads you safely through two different caves. He knows every step so you don’t slip even without any prior caving or climbing experience and every prong to warn you in time if you could bump into it.
In addition, he knows many anecdotes and scientific backgrounds which make the tour even more exciting.
The combination of a dry stalactite-rich cave with a cave with a lake shows the underground diversity very well.

Dirk has the talent to tell the interesting bits of the caves in a story-like manner that keeps you interested and guessing where the story is going to. Very nice and entertaining. Dirk knows a lot and engages you in the story. All in all I recommend Dirk if you want a cave tour on Bonaire. Also because he has a keen eye on safety and your well being as well.

Dirk is a tall slender athletic man with more than 8 years experience in spelunking with guided tours of the caves on bonAir. Park on the road, drink a quart of water, listen to Dirk's excellent description of how the many caves were formed. Then you follow him for about 30 yards to a hole in the ground. You go down a ladder that's probably 30 ft down and then you turn on the torch that he gave you and walk carefully on rocks. It is very hot and humid down there, so you will sweat like a pig,. But you see beautiful stalagtites and many other calcium formations from 10,000 years ago. I consider this a wonderful unique adventure. I'm 73 years old, in good physical condition, scuba diving here on the island.
The wet cave which you drive five minutes to is even more spectacular. First you rappel down into the cave with ropes which Dirk firmly attaches. He tells you exactly where tho place your feet tho about falling. It does require a lot of careful clamoring on wet rocks. You must be wearing tennis shoes with good grip on them. You later put the shoes by the side of the water and put on your snorkel and swim horizontally about 100 feet through a a cave.
And if you do exceptionally well, Dirk may offer to take you into a second cave which is even larger, but you have to free swim maybe 20 ft underwater through a tube to get into it.
I considered this cave tour to be one of the adventures of my lifetime, like a bungy jump and skydiving.

Dirk was fantastic! he suggested we go on a monday instead of a sunday because it would be less busy, and he was absolutely correct. We were the only ones in the caves and it made for a magical experience! We picked up some dive booties, which were perfect for the level of activity. Dirk was super knowledgeable and kept things very entertaining throughout the tour. Highly recommend! Thanks Dirk

A great tour with Dirk as an awesome guide and a maximum of 6 people each time. We really enjoyed it and got to learn more about Bonaire during 3-3.5 hours. We visited to caves (a dry one which is very warm, even though below the surface) and a wet cave were you get to snorkel (if you dare you can even swim under water to another part of the cave, only when you can). It is not a tour for the fainthearted, you surely need sturdy shoes, water and the ability to climb, bend and sit on your knees. Next to kayaking in the Mangrove this was the most informative, fun, exciting and exhilarating activity on Bonaire.
Although the caves are public (so open to anyone and 24/7) we highly recommend to go there with a guide because they are fairly rough, difficult to enter and it is challenging to find your way around if you don't know your way around. You would not want to end up in the hospital while you are here.

Is the water shallow? Someone who cannot swim could do the second cave?
