Thank you to Indio our wonderful guide for teaching us so much about Cuban conservation! He caught tiny frogs for us to see, fed lizards by hand, showed us to a beautiful clear, clean swimming hole!! We cannot wait to return for a longer hike.

This is a nice day trip with a beautiful river inside that is perfect for swimming. Our guide, ALBER THE HIKER, can be found in Baracoa's central square. Along with his driver, Sadiel, these boys became our good friends and made our trip amazing. Prices are extremely reasonable, and you can't beat the company.

In spite of very threatening weather we were determined to see this national park. We got a taxi from Baracoa and on arrival arranged for a guide to take us on a 3 hour walk through the forest. While we were waiting at the park office we had a woodpecker pose for us on one of the palm trees. We... More

Alexandre de Humboldt Nacional Parque, was amazing. Really beautiful. We had a tour with Cubatour and our guide Karel was excellent. He knew lots of information and could point out insects, animals and plants that we would not have seen in our own. There were only about 6 of us in the tour which was perfect. Not really a hard... UNESCO listed, this is one of the many nature activities that can be done near Baracoa and it is worth the trip. Spent a number of hours hiking through bush, eating fresh mangoes, drinking from fresh coconuts, learning about the area, nature, wild life, natural medicine that comes from this area that Cuba developed during its time of international embargo.... Without doubt a highlight of our time in Cuba. If you can get four of you together, book a cab out there, it's better than going with a tour group. There was only two of us, so it probably made it a little more expensive, but it also means you can stay at Playa Maguana on the way back as... More

This park offers a wide range of ecosystems and its biological, tropical diversity features an unusually high rate of endemic species. It covers about 70% of Cuchillas del Toa Biosphere Reserve on the northern side of the densely forested Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa-Moa mountain range.

Interesting rain-forest, nice birds, interesting plants and trees. Including a waterfall where you can swim. Look for a local guide in the village, instead paying a fortune at Eco-Tourism at the street.

You can book your place on a tour in a minibus to this wonderful national park at the Cubatur office in Baracoa. Ask Eric in the office when the next tour is due and try to make sure he writes your name on a list - his approach to waiting lists is a bit hit and miss! Our guide was... More

We crossed part of this immense park to go from Guardalavanca to Baracoa. An almost untouched ecosystem since we only met some small neighbourhoods dispersed here and there. Road not in good condition in some parts. We were in a private tour and our guide also driver was Cuban. Peaceful and amazing scenery. Took many photos!
