Like so many others, I wanted to see Havana before the tourism ruins the local culture. Havana certainly has been changed by tourism but not yet in a bad way. It is fixed in the 1950s albeit with renovations of historic buildings, and some newer hotels. Old Havana has historic Spanish buildings and garden squares, American-style gothic buildings, narrow cobble... More

Nice way to spend a few hours. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Be aware of the vendors and beggars and people who will try to get you to buy things. Lots of crafts and cheap souvenirs to get. A ton of history and interesting stories.

Old Havana is a large collection of colonial Spanish buildings, some of which are in disrepair but not all. The Cuban Government has a wonderful program to train young people in the dying arts of wood carving, plastering, metal work, etc and they are put to work restoring buildings, one at a time and will go on to train others.... The atmosphere of being with many world wide travellers interested in the same memories was great. I would highly recommend the... More

The architecture is impressive. A very busy transportation hub , Some what hectic in that respect. Events of interests popping up here and there out on the street in serendipity fashion.

From the Parque Central Hotel is an easy walk to many interesting sites such as the Fine Arts Museum and the Museo de la Revolucion. For a little adventure take a tricycle taxi to the malecon. It will take you at breakneck speed through side streets you would not normally see.

If you're in Havana for the first time, then without a doubt you will need to dedicate a full day maybe even 2 to experience Havana and old Havana to its fullest. There's just so much history and culture you should see as much of it as possible

The old Habana is the center of the city, way better than the malecon. Nice restaurants and bars eoth lige music, close to historical sites and street fairs.
