Like all the other churches in Havana it was closed. The square was surrounded by interesting architecture, most of which was crumbling.

This is a lovely square. It's very open and is dominated (obviously!) by the cathedral. You get a sense of history here and is well worth a visit.

Just amazingly beautiful. Particularly recommended in the late afternoon/evening, when you can enjoy the terraces, live music, drinks and the surroundings taking you to a magic XVIII c

The Cathedral itself it's not impressive inside, but from the outside together with all the buildings in the square it creates a wonderful image. There are a lot of good restaurants around, with terrace outside, inside or at 1st level (so you can admire the...More

This cathedral and square was breath taking. We went back three times. Found an architect selling his drawings for about 35dollars. There is a small museum, art shop and cafes in the square. Couple of fortune tellers add to the atmosphere

Unfortunately, the food offering from the government owned restaurants in this plaza is really average but the view is nice at the Patio. Stay for a drink or two then follow the crowd to the BdeM!

Once you disembark you'll want to walk rather than take a tour. There are interesting lanes to walk along which will lead to the cultural centre of Havana. I enjoyed walking along the waterfront and the ferry terminal is... More
