Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Place is great to listen to salsa music and dance, but just make sure to get there late. Show doesn’t start as 11:00 as they said but 12:30 am!

Arrived into sea of jinoteros advising the club was not open yet. Ignored that and found the cafe bar which was small but interesting. I should have read the reviews as the band showed up late and had not played by 1230a, when I left. If you are a night owl, the auditorium is huge and interesting. The regular beer and drink prices were reasonable.

The live music started late, after 1230 AM. Cover charge of $15 pp is a lot for Cuba. No drinks are included in the charge. The waiter returned local 10 pesos (worth a few cents) instead of $10 for change to a friend of mine.

My disappointment could be due to the false advertising of the place by people I knew. I was under the impression it would be dancing all night but it was a lot of sitting around for hours waiting for a band to come on and when they did there was no room for people to dance as the place was set up in a cabaret style with chairs and tables everywhere. The band was also singing a lot of slow ballads which would only resonate with you if you were familiar with the band and had gone to see them specifically.

The Friday night I was there the adjacent bar opened at 11 but the doors didn’t open until midnight and the group didn’t start until 12:30. It was a mostly local Habanero crowd and while the band had quite a bit of energy, it didn’t get the crowd up and on their feet. The 30 CUC entrada gets you a ron servicio, i.e. Rum and a bottle of their local cola. Even Che moaned that revolutionary Cuba couldn’t replicate the taste of Coca Cola which he enjoyed. I add that original Coca Cola with real cane sugar from Mexico is available at most better hotels and restaurants.

It cost $15 to get in and it is packed to the point there is no walking room. Bars were slow to service non Cubans and there were no seats. The band was horrible and only spoke spanish. I had way more fun where the entertainment was free. I almost got stomped on several times as people in there do not watch their surroundings. There are way more fun places and cheaper things to enjoy in Cuba.

Please stay away from this place. Cover charge is $15 each. When we got in - it was all Cubans who had taken all the seats and then charged $5 each for the seats. Service was slow. Bouncers were incredibly rude - they pushed over my girlfriend who i tried to defend and he gave me a dirty look like he is powerful and will kick me out if i ever try to defend her again. The performances are horrible and all the performers do is talk in Spanish on Stage. Ended up staying 1 hour which cost me $150 in taxi, cover, etc. Worst night in Cuba by far

Had a blast here. Off the beaten path and full of friendly locals who just want to dance and have fun. 15 CUc cover but cheap 2cuc Ron drinks and 2.5 beers. Band was excellent and entertaining. Didn’t come on until just after midnight so it’s a late night. Clean and Air conditioned. If you can pre arrange your ride back it’s a good idea and you will avoid all the cabbies on the way out.

This is a great place to go to if you're looking for a fun night with a lot of locals. Cover charge varies depending on the bands, which you can find on the website, but drinks are super cheap inside. Great atmosphere!

For sure not the best casa de la musica in Cuba. The entrance is 15cuc. 15cuc actually for nothing: the band on the scene was kind of second-rate; I’m sure that some bands you’ve heard simply on the street can be the way better. Almost no space to dance. Mojito for 8cuc

Buenas tardes,

Saludos

Do they serve food here? With everyone's recommendations we are going to try for the earlier show, but didn't know if we should eat dinner beforehand or if there will be an option to get food here. Also, is there anywhere online that I can check what bands will be playing?

yes, they have food but it looked more like bar snacks to me, so perhaps eat before/after. I'm pretty sure there is a schedule of groups if you google.

Hi, we're visiting Cuba for two weeks in January, arriving new years eve. We really love to dance and want to kick off our stay with a visit to a great dance venue. From reading the reviews I take it there are two Casa de la Musica, one in Miramar and the other in the old town area(?). As it'll be new years I'm assuming both these two places will be packed, so my question is which one has the larger dance area please?
Cheers,
Pete
