Just like everything else you've heard-- this is a great hang out spot. If you're in Cuba during the weekend, head out to El Malecon. You'll be sure to find a friend or two!

This goes on for a while. I did not walk the whole thing. I walked a little passed the statue that appeared to be Poseidon. There are people fishing along side the wall. Ships are docked here, the water is very dirty.

This is absolutely beautiful for people watching. It's quiet during the day really crowded. In the evening. One of the best places to people watch.

I do not understand the attraction? There is miles of walled seafront. The sea side of the wall are huge boulders, limiting access to the sea other than a few brief, quite scruffy sections, well out of Havana. We were disappointed. Other reviews suggest a...More

Why do you think Castro has let this once beautiful city go into such disrepair? Is he blind? Can he not see the result of his 'Revolucion'?

Hi there, I heard there has been some recent flooding along the Malecon (in late January 2016). Can anyone share some information re:the current situation and if flood waters have receded?

Hi there! I just came back from Habana. I stayed in my former home 500 m from the Malecón. When floods like that happen it always take not more than 16 hours to recede. Floods as that are one or 2 times per year at most.

How long is El Malecon? Can we walk from central Habana and back? Are there any shops or cafes along the path?

I would go to and from or vice versa the Hotel Nacional toward the fort. One to one and a half hours round trip with a couple of cafes along the way. Lovely and interesting.
