The Curacao Maritime Museum takes its visitors on a discovery tour of more then 500 years maritime history of Curacao. The story-line is illustrated through a permanent exhibition consisting of displays with authentic nautical charts, ship models and navigation equipment combined with audiovisual techniques...an attraction not to be missed. As well as the exhibition, the museum also offers a number of interesting tours. Besides a tour of the museum, a demonstration of the mini refinery, which is set up in a separate exhibition hall of the museum, can also be attended. In addition, a tour through the harbour can be made.

We learned much about the history and present about Curacao during the visit. A very short walk from downtown Willemstad and cruise ships. While it does have a few issues, the building and displays are excellent. Some of the signs are illegible due to lighting...More

A historic re-hab has captured the charm of the building. Nice selection of nautical gear and a fine offering of history a little lite on the actual slave trade, but hey- Curacao has to market itself as friendly to all. As a sailor I appreciated...More

Good overview of Curacao's history which is, as an island, mostly maritime. Good displays and a well presented 25 minute documentary about the island. Interesting third-floor display about the Dutch Navy in the area.

If you are interested in ships and/or history, this is a must see. There is a small admittance fee but it is worth the money. There are 2 levels that describe the maritime history of Curacao. All the displays are in English. If you are...More
