Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a delightful park and a stunning Japanese garden. The park is very large and unless you have your own transport it is quite difficult to get to, but worth the trouble. The grounds are massive and take about two hours to walk through. There is a tourist train but it does not always run and you don't need it.
The Japanese garden is just perfection.

The gardens were beautiful! It was a nice escape from the city. The Japanese gardens were spectacular. Definitely a worthwhile adventure.

This is a very large area with shrubs, trees, bamboos, palms, fountains and ponds. There is a train that takes you around the park, ticket included in the entrance fee. There is a Japanese garden laid out with arches and boulders as well as a large lake. The small 'museum' on site is very sad and neglected with a poor display of stuffed birds. If you wander off the roadways, there are stone circles, statues and art works in the surrounding gardens.

I just love, love, love this place. It is so lush and beautiful. A must see for the Japanese garden and the butterfly garden alone. Beautiful flora and fauna. Very tranquil. I think it's best to take the little train as an overview and then back back to areas you may want to spend more time in.

This is a huge and beautiful botanical garden. We took a train/tram ride to get a nice overview of the garden. The Japanese Garden was a highlight though we enjoyed it all. One of the few drawbacks is the lack of signs explaining what the various trees and plants are. Nonetheless this is a nice place to spend a few hours away from the usual hustle and bustle of Santo Domingo.

Beautiful place on the top of a mountain. Interesting displays. Lush greenery all around. Take bug spray. Nice view of the city far below. Sadly, I was there 'too early' in the season and the tram was not in operation. Large christ statue at the top. The drive in was on some roads that are in need of repair.

World Class Worthy. We came here because we had read much about it and were not disappointed. We only had about an hour here so from the entrance were only able to walk to and from the Japanese garden and back and were entranced with what we saw. The garden is so large that there are many pathways and roads that run through it. You don’t find single examples of mango trees or other botanicals rather you find groups or groves of individual species. Which enhance your understanding and visual impact. Even if you do not like plants very much it is hard not to gawk at many of the strange tropical trees and large plants. The cafeteria here was closed and the train not running (not sure why). There was a guide at the entrance for those who would want one. We left the garden convinced we did not nearly see all we would have liked (we needed more time), but convinced that as botanical gardens go this is one of the best we have seen (Sydney Australia has a nice one).. The much toted Japanese garden was as advertised (my wife how lived in Japan was impressed). If you come here know that is is about 30-45 minutes out of the colonial zone depending on the traffic so consider coupling a visit here with the Zoo or the Agora mall (good place to have lunch) which are both in the same area of town.

A nice half day visit to see some endemic plants and some foreign plants, plus a butterfly garden and a Japanese garden. Very reasonably priced and great for kids.

The Botanical Gardens show off the natural beauty of the Dominican Republic. The architect did a masterful job of designing the grounds. I love the Japanese gardens I also enjoyed the walking tour. This is well worth the 200 pesos or 4 American dollars.
