    Neat to see
If in Puerto Plata, it’s worth going to see Umbrella Street. Seeing the street in person is much more impressive than any picture or video. However, is it worth getting off the ship only for this street? No. I would use caution and take a taxi, do not walk from the cruise port or drive your own car there. We were there on a cruise and the port area is very clean, secure and manufactured. The actual city is a bit rough and I don’t think we would venture off anywhere on our own. Before leaving the port area, we had to identify ourselves with what ship and how many in our party, they kept record of everyone going into the city from the port. The streets are very small and congested, a lot of traffic jams. Our taxi driver parked and escorted us around at each of the sites we went to. At one point we were stuck for about 30 minutes because other taxis triple parked and we had to find all the other drivers to move their cars out of the way. If you drove your own rental car there, I don’t know that it would be safe to leave it or where you could even park. The shops on the street weren’t too impressive and I thought everything was overpriced especially for what it was. It’s neat to see and makes for some great pictures because there’s not really a lot to do or see in that area/port.

A nice walk from the park to umbrella street
You can walk the historic center of Puerto Plata in about an hour or two starting at the park and then meandering through the narrow streets and snacking on some nice gelato or other ice cream. The Umbrella street makes for a great photo opportunity, and there are other attractions like the Pink street just across the street as well. Nearby are free tours like the amber museum and a ton of souvenir shops as well.

Easy walk from Taino Bay cruise port
This was a quick easy walk from cruise port at Taino Bay. Many taxis and walking tour operators tried to get us to go with them, but we kept walking past them all. It was about a 6 minute walk past the security at the pier. I had talked to someone who went the week before I did and was glad I did because it was intimidating leaving the port security area. However, it was a quick, safe walk and glad I didn't pay for a taxi to see umbrella and pink street!

    Puerto Plata MUST SEE !!!
Walkable (5km) from Iberostar Costa Dorata but also a cheap Uber ride. Like waking in a post card. Not a ton of places to eat but a few small spots but recommend El Patio de Frida

    Touring Umbrella Street
Good trip. We arrived at approximately 10:30 am and made our way towards the entrance of the street. There were multiple shops lined up alongside the road, that consisted of different eateries and clothing stores. There were several umbrellas hanging from the wires on the top of the street, which made for some pretty pictures. Tip: I recommend spending 5 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.

    Rainbow Umbrellas- walk yourself.
Close to the border port for cruises on virgin voyages. Worth the walk to see the brightly festooned street of umbrellas. Do keep your eyes open. Lots of young kids running through crowds. Part of a good self guided walking tour

Saw this place on a post on one of my social media pages and decided I wanted to see it for myself. Really cool looking street. Not much to it besides the umbrellas, they have some shops on the street and tables from cafes you can sit and enjoy outside. If you are already in the area definitely take a walk on over and take some pictures its worth it.

A very beautiful sight to see if you’re in Puerto Plata! Great photos to be taken. We made sure to go on a day when there weren’t any cruise ships in port, and we were a few of the only people on the street! Free and easy to get to. I’m attaching a business card for the AMAZING tour guide that we used to get here! Jahaziel took us here amongst many other places in the city and I can’t recommend him enough!!

This free attraction is a pedestrian street with hanging umbrella's above. I must say the umbrella street in San Juan PR is much more vibrant, this one still delivers as a nice visual. Crowded when cruise ships are in town. lots of restaurants and stores along the street

This is just an ordinary street with several cafes and bars, and different color umbrellas above it, that you can see in almost every city.
Imo, it's a 100 met pass through street for a quick photo.

Who doesn't like to visit an umbrella street. The street is very quirky and that is a good thing. There were even some costumed people there to tell you about the street.
