Went there in June '15 for a quick stop while touring with ATV. Lovely beach ever seen. Water was crystal clear.

A quick stop on our buggy adventure. High tides and lots of seaweed and solicitors. Not a place to spend time out of a guided group.

Beach was very dirty. Lots of pushy vendors selling their wares. Not a place to relax. A lot of sea weed. Would not go back.

We were on Macao Beach for our surf lessons with Coast Riders (See separate review). The beach was very crowded with tour groups constantly coming and going, lots of vendors and quite a few wild dogs roaming around. While I would return for surf lessons...More

Went on atv excursions with stop here. Beach was pretty but not taken care of. Trash on beach. Locals try to sell you stuff. Would be better if they had people picking up water bottles and trash all around parking lot

Big waves, dirty beach and to many locals trying to sell stuff and con tourists. Tour guide did tell us what to avoid (iguana handlers and not to buy coconut leaf hats)

First beach we went to in Dominican Republic. Its a public beach with a beach safety team on guard. Great body boarding spot! When we were about to leave, a lot of people turned up. Can be crowded sometimes.

This is a stunning beach with a fantastic view. There are two main problems: The vendors are relentless from the moment you pull up, and there are not restrooms! Some guy actually tried to lead me to a rigged up tarp where people were just...More

Macao beach is a beautiful beach to go to. The only downside are the beach vendors selling anything from petting a parrot to washing your feet off with ocean water. They can be aggressice at times.

We rented a car. The highway is absolutely perfect. There are a couple of toll booths each way of 100 pesos each. We used the phone's gps and took us there easy. Once you get to the beach, better park at the Macao Surf... More
