    Great golf and staff
    This golf coarse is fabulous. For the amount of play it gets it’s in great shape. Great price. For a Dye coarse the greens are friendly but tricky. Many challenging holes although not very long. Bunkers are very statically placed. Beautiful peacocks on 14 and a lone flamingo will greet you on 15. The whole staff is great but say hello to Claudio “tiger” La Rosa for me. He always gives us great service and he’s a all around good guy. Can’t wait to get back next December. 😎👍🌴

    Nice golf course - really good shape and cheaper then other courses. Staff were very friendly. Booked my round via email with "Jose" who was wonderful to deal with and so appreciative of my interest. He made me feel like a member even though I was only a guest. Really appreciate his efforts. Golf course was well maintained and there was a uniqueness to each hole. Decent pace - think I was done in just over 4 hours. Greens rolled well and were consistent. Tee boxes in good shape. Would play here again for sure!

    Father son golf outing
    Pretty golf course. It was very hot. If you stay on the resort you pay $60 for a golf cart and no green fee. We rented clubs which were 50 dollars. We brought our own golf balls and tees. If you get out of the fairway you will lose your balls.

    Another great trip to this golf course.
    Good conditions all around. Great staff at the course. No issues getting tee times. Pace of play was good for three out of four days, last day was a tournament so a bit slower but we still loved the round. A resort style course with many water holes.

An excellent golf course with first class staff

We booked to play on Friday 27th but cancelled early in the morning due to heavy rain and we were helped in the rebooking process for Sunday by Yuberkis, the Golf Admin assistant- she was wonderful so helpful and professional (unlike staff at Cocotal). It was our first time and will not be our last. The golf carts were electric in good order and the course goes through a low forest area and lakes. The course is flat but challenging and well maintained - nicely placed bunkers or water hazards protecting greens, and some of them raised and hidden. We loved the course, peacocks and flamingos too!

Another great trip to this golf course.

Pretty golf course. It was very hot. If you stay on the resort you pay $60 for a golf cart and no green fee. We rented clubs which were 50 dollars. We brought our own golf balls and tees. If you get out of the fairway you will lose your balls.

Beautiful Golf Course

Nice golf course - really good shape and cheaper then other courses. Staff were very friendly.

Great Golf in the Caribbean

Barcelo Lakes is a fun, challenging (bring balls!) course that is right on the grounds of the Barcelo Resort.
The staff are excellent, and do a good job keeping your clubs safe and clean.
Book early - it's busy!

Look for the fabulous birds - flamingo, peacocks, herons, pelicans and egrets!

Great setup for golfers who are there with non-golfers. our group of 13 had 11 golfers - some played 7 rounds, some played 2.

Good golf experience

Best staff ever. They keep your clubs safe and ready, friendly service every day. I would call this a resort style course, very fun to play. In good condition, greens look slow but are fairly quick. The restaurant and bar was also excellent. Well worth the cart pricing

Amazing golf course and staff - You MUST go

My three last vacations were to Punta Cana and each time I've played all my rounds at The Lakes. I really LOVE this golf course. I'm an avid golfer, 14 handicap, and this course challenges me but also isn't too difficult either, so it's always just... Fun. It's the right balance for me. The course has always been in great condition from the fairways, greens, bunkers and teeboxes.

There is a large family of peacocks between holes 14 and 15 and a flamingo on 16. Super cool. It's a Pete Dye course so the layout is amazing. During my last stay I played almost every day. I should also mention there is a large chipping and putting practice area and range.

The pro shop and back shop staff have always been friendly and greet me with a smile. Some of them even know me by name! I always feel welcomed and special when I go there. The grounds crew work tirelessly in the heat to ensure the course is good condition and I thank them for that.

I want to give a special thank you to Jose Gil, manager of The Lakes. We've gotten to know each other over the years and I like our conversations about many different things from golf, to family to life in general. You know a golf course is being managed well when the staff are happy, smiling and enjoy their job.

Jose would greet me in the pro shop with a warm smile and made me feel like he was welcoming me into his home... Honestly. His warmth and kindness is a part of the reason I (and my father) have been and will continue go back to this great spot.

I sincerely and honestly recommend playing here. If you're not staying on the resort, it's still worth it. The taxi price to the golf course is very reasonable since all of the other main resorts are only about a 10 minute drive away.

Nice design, not great quality

I played here with my son April 2022, this course is fun to play and challenging as it is a Pete Dye design. The staff were very friendly from the club house to the golf maintenance crew. Other then that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend playing here for the non resort player fees ($352US for 2 players). The driving range had no balls and no one working at the range, I walked out into the range to pick balls up for our group, the balls weren’t even worth hitting they were in such bad condition. The greens were in ok shape, tee boxes and fairways were good. Bunkers were awful. They had very little sand and full of rocks, after the first couple holes we started pulling our balls from any bunker we hit into.

Overall, the course design was very well done with many nice holes, especially the par 3’s, conditions lacking though.

Reservation BEWARE

Mad a reservation for 2 tee times with carts and rented clubs. when we arrived they told us after we paid for the carts they had no more clubs. I squawked and they came up with 1 set for the 2 of us. We wanted to golf so we agreed then got a cart with little service and then the cart had to be serviced we ended up changing carts then some one came off the course with rented clubs so we took them but before we could go out we had to go back in pro shop too pay for them. after 9 holes tried to go in restaurant for refreshments they would not serve us because they did not open till 12 it was 11:30 could not get even a piece of fruit. Course was OK but do not expect any one to speak English and any service was lacking.
