As part of one of our group excursions with Samana Roadrunners, we went to Cayo Levantado for an afternoon. This is a one kilometer square island that has been used in the Bacardi Rum commercials and is made of a protruding coral reef which protects Samana bay from the Atlantic waves. Evidence of bits of the coral reef is everywhere... More

Really stunning beach to spend an afternoon on. We came here in the afternoon of our trip to Los Haitoses. A proper caribbean beach like you'd see in the movies I suppose.

Hated the sailing discos that blasted pop/dance music all day competing to blast the beach goers with louder music! Also lots of kids and locals... which is a bit different from the private beach on the other side of the island. Liked the beach and the sea though...

One of the best beaches I've been too. One of my favorite things was the boat ride. A couple of tips, I would avoid taking a "tour" to this beach since the tours will be very expensive. We were in La Terrenas and went to the bus stop where we took a "camioneta que concha" (a pickup truck that picks... More

We went to Cayo Levantado as part of our all-day Samana via plane excursion. The beach is amazingly beautiful with white sand and blue water. They have a nice bar by the beach, as well as good bathroom facilities. We took a boat here and just relaxed on the beach and swam in the water. They also have a lot... More

This Island had a jaw droppingly beautiful beach, soft white sand gently sloping down to crystal clear blue waters - paradise!! The water was warm and the locals didn't bother us hardly at all. Yes you have to pay a nominal fee for the use of loungers, but once you get in the sea and relax you wont regret that.... More

This is one of those places that you will never forget, the white sand, the intensity of the blue sea and the calm waters make for an unbelievable experience. Food at the restaurant was delicious. WARNING: make sure you shop around before choosing an excursion, we took an excursion with a very nice and friendly guy, but we realized too... More

The public beach is beautiful and there is an opportunity to feed some sea lions. It is even better if you stay at the hotel on the island!
