Well, having been to the modern Bacardi tour, this one took us back in time to the basic process. A waterwheel provided the power and the processez dated back a long time. The tour guide was very informative. Wear sturdy footware as you walk up and down uneven surfaces. It is amazing how the very old processes produce such wonderful... More

Very old factory still operating the old fashioned way. With a water wheel! Tour was quick, but informative and very friendly. Very interesting to see how the rum is made from the sugar cane. Tasting at the end!

We visited this site as part of an island tour provided by Mr Edwin Frank (who does a number of excellent tours). We enjoyed the tour of the facilities by a distillery guide, and the explanation of how sugar cane turns into rum. This is a "must do" stop on any full-island tour.

A really interesting and nice tour, you will know the traditional method of rum making. The tour is quite short but very informative. At the end - tasting of unique rum and rum punch. Definitely worth to visit!

We had a day on Grenada at the end of a yacht charter trip and hire a taxi from the Port Louis Marina to take us on an Island tour. Our driver (Winston) was a font of knowledge and interesting facts and he only charged US$30 an hour to take five of us. His taxi was a/c although the odd... More

A very interesting place. Guided tours are given and you can see every process the sugar canes go through to become rum. The machinery, equipment and processes are the very old ones and they stick to the old ways right throughout. They are environmentally friendly and where possible they try to use all the waste from the process in different... More

marvellous opportunity to turn back the clock and witness rum manufacture the old fashioned way. Still using the old water wheel that has provided power for production for over 200 years. The guides are very knowledgeable and the visit was a real treat. The tour culminates in a tasting but all except the real rum diehards would benefit from using... More

River Antoine is a marvelous experience. This distillery still makes rum the old fashioned way using green environmentally conscious methods. It was impressive to see a 200 year old water wheel that still grinds sugar cane. The process remains the same after a couple hundred years. The tour was educating and the guide Patsy was full of enthusiasm. They only... More

We visited the distillery years before Hurricane Ivan hit the island. We visited again last week. "Rivers" was synonymous for local rum with a devastating effect located in a less than friendly environment. What a wonderful difference the years have made. There has been significant improvements which make visiting a pleasure -- and that's even before you taste the diverse... More
