Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Big circular open space square with a lot of potential being located near the waterfront, the marche de la Darse and the fish market. We visited it on a Sunday and it was a bit depressing. No people around, surrounded by rundown buildings and a bit dirty, it felt semi-abandoned. I'm sure there are some nice events held here and maybe Sundays are very quiet days, but with a bit of work and care this could become a great place to spend some time.

Place de la Victoire is a large public park located by the sea in the heart of Pointe à Pitre.
I don’t like the nearby buildings falling apart like the former cinema Renaissance, the lack of local activity, the prowlers around.
I like to sit and relax under a rare and impressive sandbox tree, a flamboyant tree or a more common palm tree. I like the views on the waterfront and the heights of Basse-Terre across the bay. I like the bandstand in 1930s style, the historic colonial buildings that border the square. I like to do shopping in the steel structure Darse Market or the typical fish market. I like to chat with the street vendors selling bokits or coconut sorbets.

The square is orderly and ideal to sit under one of the trees for a rest. The buildings on one side of it are so shabby and rundown that they ruin the whole atmosphere. It is one of the two well kept places in Pointe-A-Pitre besides the ACTe museum.

Virtually deserted on a Sunday, with very few restaurants-coffee shops open, the former grandeur of this 19th century public square is still in evidence. While "For Sale" signs hung on most buildings, with a little bit of imagination one can see the potential this "French Quarter" urban oasis holds. The wrought-iron balconies tell the whole story. All this place needs is a millionaire yacht basin on the adjacent "darse" to get it going.

This is a nice open area in Point-a-Pitre. It has a bust of the first black governor of Guadeloupe. There is nothing spectacular about it but it is free so if you are nearby you should check it out.

At the harbour end of the square is a very interesting painted mural which is a memorial to 1967 victims.

Nothing really to see, just a large open space. The park behind, to the city, is nice, but once again empty.

The Victory Place is a park. There is a shelter, wooden benches and a playground.
The houses surrounded the park.
There are flowers, monuments and lots of palm trees.
I liked to walk here. It was so calm.
Worthwhile to see!

Large square/plaza fronting on the harbor, lined with historic colonial buildings, Several monumets and statues. The area witnessed some of the worst of the French Revolution in the islands.

I liked walking through this square where there are some sculptures, palm trees, and a children's play area.
The harmony in the coexistence of island families infected me.
It is located in front of the "Yacht Club"

is this hotel and Victoria palace the same one??? confused
Written 14 March 2016
No this is not a palace. This is a place, with statues, trees and grassy areas, where you can have a walk or take kids to a playground.
