A true taste of Jamaican and Rasta culture with a positive atmosphere.
Great customer service at bar. THE VIEW WAS BREATH TAKING....basically looking down at entire Kingston city- with the aroma of herbs, while listing to great music, enjoying a drink and cool mountain breeze.
But be prepared for the a workout to get there lots of steps, can get exhausting.
Authentic vibes, one of the best experiences I have had in all my travels to Jamaica, will return.

It is to highlight on your to do list, it is amazing! Up on the tropical hills of beautiful Kingston, the dance floor in the midst of this wonderful jungle. You’re dancing on concrete but one look up in the night sky surrounded by the tree crowns leaves you in trance.

there are two reviews complaining of gabre taking away people's camera when in fact only one person had there camera confiscated, the dub club is private property and also the owners home, filming is strictly forbidden without permission, (there are clear signs stating no filming allowed) the person complaining put there go pro on Gabre's DJ table filming Gabre selecting, the camera was confiscated and returned minus the SD card, there was at no time any friends of Gabre surrounding this person or was this person treated aggressively.

No question it is a cool club! Unfortunately the owner (Gabre Selassie) is an aggressive person!
He simply took away my GoPro to take out the SD card because I took some pictures in there as a souvenir for my wife. For her it has always been a dream to enjoy the nice vibes in this club.
The owner is walking up to me, yelling “it's forbidden to film!” My answer: Sorry I didn't know that you can't shoot pictures in the Dub Club! Everybody takes pictures here! His answer was “these are friends...”
I said to him I will delete the videos. He showed me his middle finger and said you won't get the card anymore!
What is going on my friend, I said? While his friends were circling me! I have a lot of memories of Jamaica on the SD card! Thereupon he ape after me, I have so much memory.... What do you want to do now? Do you want to cry? Because I won't give you the card anymore?
I said I won't cry, it's just a pity that you talk to me like that! I have done nothing bad! He looked at me and pushed me away...
That made my wife so sad that she began to cry....
I always thought LOVE AND PEACE and stuff? Not with Gabre Selassie he thinks his club in Monaco or St. Tropez is where only stars run around where you are not allowed to film!
You should say at the cash desk, filming and taking pictures is forbidden! Or install big signs where you can also see it, then you know it and you`ll leave the camera in your pocket!
Unfortunately we did not get the SD card!
Conclusion is that it is not the Dub Club but Buckingham Palace and the Queen doesn't want you to film in there!
I hope that I reach with this rating a few people who do not support such people!
Peace
Catalin

As a dub lover for more than 15 years ago, me and a friend decided to visit Jamaica as this country is the roots of our musical passion. My trip went well, I met tons of cool people, especially within the popular districts of Kingston. People showed me big respect and shared a lot music with me.
Then I decided to attend to a session at Kingston Dub Club on February 10th 2019. At the very end of the party (at 02 :00 AM), the promoter of the club Karlyle Nicholas Lee (known as « Gabre Selassie ») took my GoPro that were standing on a table just in front of me. He put it in his pocket without saying anything, under my eyes and a lot of witnesses. As he was not saying anything, I did apologize, just in case if I generated any troubles around me (which was not the case). After complaining to his friends who were hanging around him, I finally got the camera back, but he stole away the SD card that contained all the data. I immediately noticed it, and complained more to get it back. At this point, Karlyle began to get very angry and shouted at me, and turned very aggressive. So much that his friends had to retain him as he was trying to get closer and bullying me.
But then, the most shocking is only arriving !!!
He proposed me to give him all my money to get the card back. At this time I felt totally lost. Money is at the opposite of the rasta's values, especially if it brings sadness. As I opened my wallet he told me this was not enough to get my property back. He finally told me to get out of his club and kept my data storage.
Then until now, I tried to discuss with him, multpliying apologies and proposing him to delete whatever he finds offensive on the data storage and then return it to some relations in Jamaica. He never answered me back.
I wanted to share this story with you, to avoid people to go there and get stolen just like me. In 15 years of attending to dub parties (in Europe mostly), I've never NEVER met a so nasty people. I know this is hard to believe, but I have no interest in sharing this except warning people with good faith like me to avoid that club. Go downtown, better ambiant and kind people !
These guys are just gathering tourists and then steal their money.
Shame on you " Gabre Selassie " !

If you like music and a nice view in a (really) safe environment then comparatively this is ok value. But if you want a real Jamaican experience this is not it; the best way I could describe it is cruise ship tourism - one big show for tourists and mostly the only ‘locals’ their are for the tourists as part of the show for that authentic feel.
But as I said for a night out without worries (except for the very expensive drinks) and a nice view go for it. But don’t expect real Jamaica as it’s definitely not that.
Personally I wouldn’t do it again and would prefer to have not gone at all, but I did so hope this helps anyone else like me (independent and solo traveller) not make the same mistake.

To all reggae fans around the world, The Dub Club is some sort of a legendary club up in the mountains, where real old school reggae roots is played, and you have people from all over the world coming there to dance every Sunday night.
Back to reality, despite the dreamy presentation - this place is perhaps nice for elderly people, but if you come to kingston for a real Jamaican culture - don’t go there.
Rarely you find locals over there - the only ones who go are friends with the owners / workers .
It’s a pretty touristic party let’s just call it that.
Also, as an Israeli,
I just couldn’t ignore the ignorance and the fake “one love” atmosphere the selekta was trying to achieve. He was talking about “free my palestinian brothers from the Israeli occupation”
And once you put politics into music, you spoil it.
We were a big group of Israelis coming together to check out what’s the hype about dub club.
In my 3 months time in Jamaica no one had ever made me feel so unwelcome as the dubclub . Just for being israeli !
Anyway - you must go once to watch that city night view which is astonishing.
And one time only. It’s enough .
If you are traveling just to catch the vibe of Jamaica bob Marley etc and not really a big reggae fan, you might like the vibe .
If you love dancehall, don’t go at all.

Rasta at it's best. A truly Jamaican cultural experience, but it is not for everyone.
As other viewers have established, there is a special "vibe", and the harmony and unity of true Rastafari. The music was all roots culture. Drinks of all types were available and more sacramental essentials than i could manage.
Rastafari has been a part of Jamaican culture for many years and for those that want to experience the Jamaica beyond beaches, bars and typical tourist traps, this spot offers something you won't ever forget.
However, there are some challenges to enjoying this location. The gorgeous night view of Kingston lit up at night is accomplished by driving up a treacherous mountain road, that though not a big deal for locals, would be slightly scary for most foreigners. Once at the top of the mountain there is a short but challenging walk down to the Dub Club. There are a number of steps leading down to the club, most of which are way steeper than they should be. The steps are not lit so that also can be dangerous at night. A hand rail along the steps is also something that is needed for safety and something that I hope is installed as quickly as possible. I think that as these improvements are made it will make the club a lot more accessible for many.
In conclusion, should the owners of this site read this review I hope that you accept my comments as positively as I mean them, because I am grateful and offer "nuff respect" for what you offer those seeking to know Jamaican culture. For those who seek, wear sensible shoes :-)

This was exactly what other reviews painted it to be: the chillest, best vibes, laid back, relaxed Sunday evening roots, rock steady, Rasta infused party in Kingston.
By far the highlight of a weekend in town.
I'm almost reluctant to write the review as the spot is too good to share...selfishly :)
Went early and took my 9 y.o. son along.
The layout is fantastic, the views of Kingston from atop of the hill great and there is so much peaceful energy in the air.
Main deck with the bar and the top of a mango tree hanging right there, full of fruit (still green this one in early July) is where folks hang out. Gift shop, a large variety of fresh local fruit juices, some snacks and Ital (Rasta vegetarian) options and a good selection of spirits and beer are served.
The music is amazing--we had a DJ evening, so no live bands but that alternates, just check their lineup on their FB page.
Best outdoor sound system I heard, and the bass is, well, no duh, it's the Dub Club :)
Even better is that the DJ booth and two walls of speakers are set on the other side of the house from the deck. So on the deck you get the great sound while still being able to have a conversation without shouting or being deafened.
If you want to feel it deep in your gut turn the corner and get your clothes and soul blown off by the sound vibrations--it still sounds and feels good.
A great mix of all kinds of people up there, really diverse and awesome.
Now, perhaps not a place for kids--there were a couple of other young teens there and we did leave before 11:00 pm--plus our son is easy going and well traveled so he enjoyed it

Did you stay nightly in Kingston? If so, where did you stay? What other clubs did you visit? Thank you!

Hi Noelle! Sorry for the delay, lol...I just realized that I had a notification. I don't really hang out on Trip Advisor haha. I'm actually looking to travel to Negril in July & I'm checking out some hotels now ;)
Yes, I stayed in Kingston at Casa Alexandria - close to Halfway Tree. I hit as many clubs & chill spots as I could. Soooo much fun!! Dub Club is my favorite, no contest, but I mashed it up at Weddy Wednesday too! I like the urban vibe though...if you're into a more upscale crowd - check out Privilege or Asylum (I think I've got the names right). Actually, once you're there - it'll be easy to find out what's currently hot. There's always something poppin in Kingston! I can't wait to go back! I hope this helps ♡
