I was very excited about touring Wassi Pottery, particularly after watching their video and looking at their web site. I am not sure how long their retail outlet/studio has been closed, but it is no longer open. A few other shops in the area appear to have a little of their remaining inventory on consignment.

We handed our items over and paid for them, as they were wrapped up for safe journey home. Once we reached our home in MI, we opened... More

I so wanted to go here and finally convinced my husband to drive me over from where we were staying in Long Bay in Portland parish. Unfortunately, the web site is non-functional as is the phone line or answereing machine. Oh wait, they don't have a machine with a recording of hours of operation. I find this a sad way... More

We searched long and hard for the Wassi Arts store in Ocho Rios. It is upstairs in the Taj Mahal Mall. The quality of the pottery here is very high. We bought some small vases and a small framed painting. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, the staff friendly and helpful. Our purchases were wrapped expertly and all... More

This stop was part of our shopping excursion from the Jewel Dunns River resort. We really enjoyed it,the pottery is beautiful and the smaller pieces are very affordable. They offer to let you make a small bowl to take home however remember it will be unfired and green,I doubt any make it home unbroken. The larger floor vases are exquisite and... More

This Place has a great atmosphere, my husband and I visited just to look around but found a very nice piece of artwork, we met the painter a Mr. Frasier who is very creative and sells his work for a reasonable price. We had a nice conversation about his skills and inspiration that draws him to paint, that was the... More

Wassi is a pottery factory where the owners offer artists a chance to learn an art and create their pieces. Now located in the middle of Ocho Rios Wassi offers both extremely commercial potteries which are only a souvenir - Not much artistic value, but at least it is made in Jamaica and not in China or Bengladesh - and... The pottery is fantastic! All of it is priced in U S Dollars; however, when we went to pay, they wanted to "convert it to Jamiacan dollars"..of course at a non-standard rate. When we all refused to complete our purchases (there were three of us making purchases in our group) their "American" machine suddenly was working again. They will make... More

Children gewt a hands on demonstration with expert potters in making clay into one of a kind pieces. It's an awesome family experience and finished pieces are reasonable in price for their artistic contribution. Pottery style... More
