Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We've been a week in PR so had enough time to go around.
Reading about it, we decided to go and give it a try.
Nothing I haven't seen before and nothing so spectacular to put it on your prime list.
It's primary a residential area with the main star being the area around Plaza de Mercado. A lot of bars and restaurants with live dancing on the streets.
This area seemed safe with lot of people hanging out, but beware just a 2-3 streets away is a pretty sketchy area we encountered when going to a good Mexican restaurant 10 min away.

Short Uber ride from old San Juan brought us to this lively, up and coming part of town. The big attraction here is the street murals. They are painted on many of the buildings and it's quite fun to wander the neighborhoods trying to find them. A must see if you are in the area and enjoy art.

La Placita Santurce, markets by day and on some nights, i think Thursdays and weekends it turns in to a lively night spot for all the locals to hang out and listen to amazing live music on the street and dance the night away. Definitely a true and amazing cultural experience that you will never forget. I hope this review is helpful :)

It has been at a slow pace, but the vision of many architects, government leaders, and planners of revitalizing Santurce is coming to pass. After years of identifying abandoned buildings and re-zoning vacant properties in order to bring new life through modern apartment buildings, shops, and fine restaurants, people are coming back to San Juan's original downtown. Fine arts theaters, museums, hip cafes, and galleries make the new Santurce completely livable for the sophisticated young professional, families, and retirees wishing to relive the glamour of days past. There still some sore spots which will most likely see major changes, but in general Santurce is becoming one of those districts in Puerto Rico where the mix of art decco and modern architecture create a splendid new habitat for city dwellers.

great day trip to just walk around and take in all the great art around the neighborhood. Also the locals are super friendly but recommend to do this during the day but also a must see location. Santurce in Puerto Rico is New York's version of Williamsburg, Brooklyn

We are currently staying in Santurce. We have walked the neighborhoods to the nearby beaches and to restaurants as well. Everyone here is very friendly. The police are constantly patrolling the area, day and night, which we like. Feel very safe here. And we really enjoy the so called boardwalk right on the beach. Definitely would return to this area.

Twice we have gone to the Plaza del Mercado in Santurce. If you want a true "local" experience, then go here on a Friday night. After the Market closes, and the sun goes down, the party begins. Have dinner at Jose Enrique, then join the crowd that begins to gather about 9:00 pm, and enjoy some Salsa dancing in the streets.

I go to church in Santurce and can't believe all the new building from a Pueblo store connected to a parking garage to my favorite bookstore/internet cafe. You can see some amazing art work at the art museum and sculptures outside.

Then also there is some interesting graffiti around. I will post photos here.

We went there when the market was open and had dinner along the street. Happy hour was like watching a fashion show. Everybody came there after work to enjoy happy hour and we enjoyed it with them.
