Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This little fort is tucked away behind the Hilton Caribe and I had to get directions from the hotel bellhop to get even close to finding it. You have to go behind the property and skirt along the back edge to get to it and where it sticks out by Laguna del Condado. It is a simple structure and is in the process of install exhibit on the main level, where you can read about the history. There are lovely views from the upper level, but be warned there is NO shade to found except inside the main level rooms where they are doing construction.

I work across from the San Geronimo fort. It was abandoned since it was taken over by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture some years ago. Now there is a restoration Project under way by the federal government.

Spent about 2 hrs. visiting this fort. It is about $10 for a ticket but if you have a Natl Parks pass it is free. There is a free bus stop at the front gate but it is just as easy to walk a couple blocks to down town Old San Juan. Because of the narrow brick streets it is faster to walk. Spend some time here and read the info.

The fort is historically significant, but is very small compared to the major fortresses of "El Morro" & "San Cristobal", both of which are well worth a visit.
However, it makes a very good photo, especially from the terrace of the neighbouring Hilton Caribe hotel.

Bring comfy shoes...there is plenty to see here! This was perhaps our favorite part of San Juan. Our teens even enjoyed the historical aspects of this site! Explore every nook and cranny!

Located to the very west of Old San Juan lies Fortin de San Geronimo. This fort is hidden behind giant resorts but still have a lot of charm. Much smaller than it's counterparts this fort can be explored in 10-15 minutes. Great views of the Condado beach and San Juan. This fort is by donation only, it could use your help. Not having the tourist draws of the western end of Old San Juan, this Fort needs much more restoration work.

You can go there if you are staying at the Caribe Hilton or happen to be walking in the zone. If not, you can use your time on other beautiful attractions in San Juan...

Go here! Some history, amazing views-- inexpensive way to see the city from a cool perspective. The fee you pay to here gets you into another fort just ten minutes away with trolley available for transport during select hours

We got off the Princess and decided to go on our own. We laft the ship and walked up a long steep hill. We went to the fort, paid our fee, and went in. The fort seemed to streach down the beach for almost a mile and had at least three levels.
The fort was well supplied with cannons and plenty of ammo. They also had a bunch of little stone redouts with an outside hole so a sniper could shoot with little chance of being hit.
We wandered the fort for two hours but think we did not see all the fort. Then we returned to old San Juan for shopping then returned to mour ship.
