Our experience is really special because of the ecosystem of the lagoon. It is very common to come across manatees that feed on seagrass and that live in harmony with so many other marine species that live there. The lagoon is an important natural reserve that is protected for study and conservation as it is part of the San Juan Bay estuary. It also has a community of natural and artificial reefs that make the experience even richer. The flora, the mangroves, the landscape and how the species live in their natural ecosystem is an experience added to the sport to be performed in the lagoon. These conservation efforts seek to educate and increase knowledge for their conservation and the enjoyment of these beauties. The best thing is that it is centrally located at the entrance to San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico and the historic center that is the largest tourist attraction on the island.

Our hotel was walking distance from here, the park at one time was beautiful I could imagine yet after the hurricane lots of trees have damage, roads/walkways have damage. Lots of statues and trails to walk on and see the park. Enjoyed all the flowering trees and animals running around. The chickens are so cute! Stone walkways were pretty as well. One day I;m sure this park will grew to be beautiful but for now it was a nice relaxing place to walk.

The only reason I titled this review this way is that this park was qualified by a walking tour guide as being « San Juan’s Central Park, just like New York has its own ». So don’t get any such fancy ideas... Yes it’s a park, and is so central that you can see and hear traffic noise everywhere. It still bears scars from the last hurricane, so will need several more investments to make it be what it must have been before. Highlights are the many banyan type trees, including a few left there as ghost-like testimonials of the hurricane damage. Also relatively close to Old San Juan, and El Escambron Beach.

This is a beautiful historic park and is the only park on the island. The park has been cleaned of debris and restored after Hurricane Maria, and to me seems to have been restored to a level of splendor that it had not enjoyed in many years prior to the hurricanes. I walked through the park this morning and enjoyed it very much. It may me remember of the outings to the local park when I was a kid, and made me appreciate what a treasure parks really are. If you are in the area this is a great park to take a walk through.

Although this park needs updating since Hurricane - it is a gem as it made me feel like I went back into San Juan history. The mosaics and statutes were a nice surprise.

Nice park to walk around, the mosaics on the floor are absolutely beautiful, but needs some fixing. There are statues around, park for kids and close to beach.
