This appropriately-named beach, curving like a half moon, is shallow enough to walk out 40 feet.

We were very careful but thieves stole our bags right behind our backs while we sat on the beach. Very brazen. One of us was running and almost ran up on them in the act. They dropped bags and disappeared into the jungle. Stole $20...More

There are so many GREAT beaches in Vieques. The day we visited Media Luna the water was a bit choppy but such a relaxing beach.

We only passed through on our way to Playa Navio but my teens loved seeing the wild horses nd calfs roaming along the beach and the shady wooded area the lines it. They aren't too skittish so you can walk nearby without scaring them.

Media Luna is part of the Sun Bay beach area (you have to pay $4/car to enter). It's farther off the beaten path... down some dirt roads. But it's a very pretty little stretch and worth the drive.

Rent a kayak for the day or a paddle board - the water is quiet and there's lots of room to play!!! Fun snorkeling too!

this beach is great, you can find some shade or laze in the calm shallow water with the fish! getting to it is a bumpy ride but its worth it! no bathrooms or civilization though so plan accordingly

Easy to get to. I used a publico to Sunbay and walked 15 minutes to get here. Bring water and snacks. Plenty of beach and shade available. Bay is shallow, great for the little ones

You could, but it would be a very unpleasant walk. Rugged road and it's hot. But if you're up for the trek with proper shoes and plenty to drink, you could walk it.
