Access to some of the best beaches in the caribbean. No beach bars, chairs, hotels or houses. Very pretty selection of wild beaches. Also good areas for scuba, snorkeling and kayak fishing (recommend Nena Scuba for former and Bieque Eco Travel - Eric - for latter).

Access to some of the best beaches on Vieques are here in the National Wildlife Refuge....also access to the Fero Lighthouse. The first Kilometer is paved with about 12 speedbumps...speed limit 25 mph. Road ends at Playa Plata about 4 kilometers in. Lots of horses roaming around. Look for mongoose and iguanas...also large termite homes. It is a crying shame... More

This is the absolute best part about Vieques. Rent yourself a jeep and find your own private beach! My girlfriend and I only had to drive around for about 10 minutes before finding our own private beach, we camped out with a cooler and some snacks and just hung there the whole day! It's like your own little world!

After having an amazing beach day at Sun Bay, we moved to the refuge to explore the area and at night visit Mosquito Bay (bioluminiscent bay). In the refuge we enjoy of a virgin environment, that resulted so relaxing and like a parenthesis from the outter world.

It requires a rental car to get to the most remote beaches, but you will be rewarded with clean, white sandy beaches. If the water is calm, the possibilities for snorkeling are very good. Take care of your belongings as we heard of burglaries.

The wildlife refuge is a great place to visit for a variety of activities. To access all areas you should consider renting a Jeep since many of the beaches are accessed via unpaved roads. Our favorite beach was Pata Prieta, wonderful and secluded as well as La Plata. Some good snorkeling spots in the beaches as well, specially towards the... More

September is off season to visit the Vieques island but if you want goo quiet time and wanna try some luck with the weather, highly recommended. We stayed in an apartment near the ferry terminal about 15 mins walk and it was 20 mins drive to the forest and beaches. Rent a Jeep and take it out in the forest.... More

This is a very special place, something completely different to the sunny beaches that sorround the Vieques Island. A must see during your trip. Fauna and flora are unique to this kind of tropical site.

Gorgeous. Many spots to pull off and park. We love 10. Palm trees for shade. Waist deep water. Swim to reef off small island. Bring snorkel gear (JAK Water Sports).

This is the area you need to explore to see the best beaches on the island. It's a long stretch of road, some paved, and some dirt that leads to many of the beaches with the beautiful blue Caribbean water and soft, white sands. Definitely a must-do in Vieques!
