On the eastern side of Martinique is the Caravelle Peninsula which is a favourite for trekkers. The long walk takes about 3.5 hours, though there is a shortcut, and it mostly hugs the coast, so provides magnificent views across the island and out over the Atlantic. The lighthouse is a terrific spot for photos. The walk can be quite taxing... More

Beautiful and shows the variety of nature in Martinique, i really recommend the walk around (there are maps on the route which guide you) - it is a great way to cure a hangover!

This walk was one of the most relaxing on this island. It's not that difficult and there's a lot to see. You'll mostly walk around the coast and at the end through a mangrove wood. Inside the mangrove wood, you'll see a lot of crabs walking around. At the start of the walk, you can visit a lighthouse and a... More

An experienced backcountry hiker, I decided to risk Le Grand Sentier in the Nature Reserve. Even with a skirt and flip-flops. The 7km, 3 1/2 hour trail was worth every slow and steady step. Magnifique! Crabs, mangroves, the Atlantic Ocean, volcanic geology, stunning views, windblown trees, a lighthouse, history, birds. All in one hike. Recommendations: I took 2 litres of... More

I was off a cruise ship for the day. I had a local guide and wanted to take landscape photos. We found several nice views here.

This was a real highlight of our trip. A perfect little hike- more than a walk, for sure, but easy to do in sneakers and so rewarding! We only say 3 other couples on a 3+ hour hike. There was enough elevation to feel we got some exercise and really earned the spectacular beaches that we then had all to... More

There are two circular walking routes on this part of the peninsula, a longer one that took us about 4 hours and a much shorter one, close to the ruins of the Chateau Dubuc. There are a number of discreet but helpful interpretation panels placed around the walk, which added to our enjoyment. The circuit passes through mangroves, ancient pastures... More

At the end of peninsula is a parking and then we walked about 30 min thru the forest and mangroves to the beach. Bridges thru mangroves, path with amazing views, swim in that warm water. What a great day! But if you`re into it, you can do the 3 hours walk tour. At the end we stopped in Le Phare... More

We hiked the shorter loop and up to the lighthouse in about3/3/4 hours at a liesurely pace. Fairly easy hike but it gets hot after 10:00 AM. There are areas on the coastal rock outcrops that are covered in a pebbly sand/soil that makes for some sliipery footing so footwear better than flip flops recommended. Pretty spot out in the...
