    A beautiful garden
Well worth a visit. We were given a guided tour with some free time. for about 90 minutes. But if you want to take full advantage you need to be there for longer to allow time to make notes of the plants.

    Relaxing Garden
This is a 2-part review: The Garden itself, and getting there. The Garden is everything it says it is. Very picturesque, well-maintained and relaxing to wander through. Even if you're not a fan of nature you should enjoy the scenery. The only downside is trying to get on the suspended bridge walkway, which only holds two persons per section so the line is painfully slow. We waited for 1 hour to get started. There are no attendants there, and although it won't solve the problem it would likely help a great deal. They take credit cards for payment but if you pay with cash make sure you have Euros. Getting to this place from the cruise port, if you're going on your own instead of with a ship excursion, isn't easy. There are two bus lines that leave from different locations. One is L9 and the other 25. You'll have to ask locals where to catch these busses and the return schedule is almost impossible to determine. If you want to stop a return bus as it goes by the garden you have to take your life into your own hands. We gave up and took a taxi back to the port. If we had to do it again, we'd just pay the extra that the ship excursion costs and deal with the long lines for the suspension bridge, which we didn't avoid by trying to get there early.

    Great view from the trees
Jardin de Balata was a very nice stop as we drove from one AirBnB to another. We didn't make reservations at the restaurant but they were able to fit us in without a problem. Tour busses stop there so they are prepared to accommodate large groups of people. The garden was very nice. We bought fish food as we entered so the kids could feed the koi as we passed the tree ponds. There was a hanging bridge, a playground for little kids, plenty of shade, and beautiful sights to see.

Stunning! One of the best spots in Martinique
Nestled in the mountains and greener than Dorothy’s Emerald City. This place is a true treasure. Landscaping: amazing Flowers : WOW Wildlife: YES! extra fun to watch Peaceful: yes, yes, yes Bonus: the rope bridge. So. Cool. Pro tips: the restaurant is not open past the closing time at the garden. Tickets were easy to get once we arrived. Bring water Buy the fish food - it’s fun and there are 3 ponds at least.

    Beautiful gardens
We visited these gardens with a tour guide and she gave us 2 hours and she let people wander off. Only 4 of us stayed with her. At the very entrance there is a little house of the past owners. And we got alot of history of the owner who created the gardens from our tour guide. He also designed the gardens at the zoo. There are also beautiful hummingbirds feeding at the hummingbird feeder. And a photo op of a giant heart. The garden is well manicured for having only 6 gardeners. Our tour guide told us all about the plants, flowers and trees. It was interesting. There was not a lot of flowers. Mostly plants that had flowers blooming from them. There were 2 ponds with a bunch of fishes swimming together and a walking bridge up high that has some movement to it. If you don’t do the tour with the guide than you can finish fast and don’t need the 2 hours. It’s worth the visit

Stunning gardens
Jan 2020 • Couples
This is a great destination for a cruise stop in Martinique. Local bus takes about 20 minutes for 3 euros and entry is further 12 euros. The gardens are beautiful and really well maintained. There is a tree bridge which is fun. The views are stunning. Highly recommend. Easy to do by yourself rather than on an official cruise excursion.

Beautiful gardens in the middle of the rain forest.
Feb 2020
Exciting drive up into the rain forest! Then arrived at this beautiful botanical garden. Easy to walk around and follow the trail. Saw amazing plants. Loved the suspended walk way up and through the tree tops. Humming birds drinking nectar from very pretty containers. A must visit place!

Part of a cruise excursion
Dec 2022
This was part of a cruise excursion. We had a great guide (Marie) that was able to talk about the various plants and we had plenty of time to check everything out.
The gardens are nicely laid out and the walkways are easy to follow. Besides plants there are various pieces of art work placed around the grounds.

First of all you are greated by the hummingbird feeding station, amazing. However if you are in a group I would suggest moving on and returning later when not so crowded the birds always seem to be there.
The garden is lovely, so many exotics in the middle of a forest, almost jungle, lots of lotus lillies and a tree top walk too.

Unbelievable botanical gardens
Jan 2020 • Couples
We were on a cruise that was supposed to stop in St Lucia but moved on to Martinique because of predicted rain. We signed up for a tour of these gardens on a whim. You never know what you are getting in to when you go to a botanical garden but this place exceeded all expectations. Very large gardens that are beautifully laid out and taken care of. Bromeliads, palm trees (lipstick Palm!), strangler trees (go see to find out), popcorn flowers and many beautiful flowering plants. Did I mention the hummingbirds and the elevated swaying bridge to walk on?
Our guide seems to know every inch of the gardens and was very well spoken. Unfortunately, I do not know the tour company as it was organized by our ship.
Gardens are about 6 or 7 miles outside of The capital and the road in winding a narrow. Cab would be a very good option.

Spectacular gardens, but don’t rely on city bus
Jan 2023 • Couples
The best tropical gardens I’ve ever visited. Immaculate, good signage, excellent concrete trails and an exciting rope walking bridge.
But the website gives incorrect information about busses.
It claims that the gardens are mere “minutes” away, when the ride is at least 30 min. And we’re told that the bus departs from the city every 20 minutes. We waited almost 90 minutes to get there and another 90 to get back.

Really great but get there at opening !
Feb 2023 • Couples
This is probably the shortest I will dver write.

This place is really matching the info you will find.

It truly is wonderful and an absolute must see when in Martinique.

Do not miss the feeding stations, which are hung up just upon entering the park, to attract (plenty of) colibris (humming birds) .

Very important : you really need to get there at opening time !!! 09h00 in our case, to have a relaxed and enjoyable visit.

Upon exiting around 10h45, the place really started to be really too crowded, especially with several buses dropping cruise passengers in large numbers.

Go early !!!

wonderful experience
Aug 2022 • Family
Visiting the botanical garden is a unique experience on the island. The impeccable care for the flowering plants and trees and the comprehensive arrangement of the park is surprising. A very nice addition to the tour is a path through the treetops and a bird's-eye view.
