We were in St. Lucia from January 17 to the 24th and went on an excursion with Joy’s Adventure on January 22nd. We chose the Joy’s Adventure Excursion, which included ground transportation, boat (catamaran) transportation, Mud Baths at an island volcano, Toraille Waterfall, Lunch at Joy’s place, and snorkeling at a marine heritage site. This was an excellent tour! The whole Joy team (Captain Rodney, Philip, and Vaughan) was friendly, professional, very organized, and, of course, highly entertaining. It was a great tour that provided fun and history of the island. This is a smaller tour group which we really appreciated. We had 22 people not including the Joy team, which we felt was much better than resort tours that often have over a hundred people on the trip. The lunch buffet was excellent with everything homemade, including the juices. This is a high value excursion that we would take again. We were referred to Joy’s excursion by someone who had used them before, and we will recommend them to others as well. Thanks very much for an excellent time!

We had the absolute pleasure of experiencing this excursion during our first-ever cruise on the P&O Arvia in December 2024. We were initially nervous about booking an independent excursion, especially with two young children (ages 8 and 5) and the fear of not making it back to the ship on time! However, our worries were completely unfounded – this trip was flawless from start to finish.

As we disembarked in Castries, we were immediately greeted by Shane, right on time and exactly as promised in our email booking. From the very start, Shane was an absolute gem – funny, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable.

Our group included a few fellow cruisers, and we picked up another lovely group from Marigot Bay before beginning our boat journey to Soufrière. The boat ride itself was fantastic, with stunning views and a great atmosphere.

Upon arrival in Soufrière, two minibuses whisked us away into the lush rainforest, where we visited the mud baths and a stunning waterfall. Both stops were so much fun, and Shane was there every step of the way, guiding us, assisting with photos, and making sure everyone was comfortable. He captured some brilliant moments of our family that we’ll cherish forever.

Next, we visited the Joy family house, where we received the warmest welcome. The hospitality and food were exceptional – you could feel the family’s passion for sharing their culture and home with visitors. Our children were especially delighted as they were shown various fruits growing on the trees, including fresh cocoa pods and citrus fruits, and invited to taste them. Everything was immaculately clean and well cared for. It was such a heartwarming experience.

After our time with the Joy family, we headed to the stunning Sugar Beach, nestled between the iconic Pitons. Snorkeling equipment was provided, and we had a fantastic time exploring the crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. It was our children’s first time snorkeling and they absolutely loved it.

The return journey to Castries was equally unforgettable. With music playing, rum punch and beers flowing, Shane transformed into full entertainer mode, keeping everyone laughing and dancing with his humor and excellent playlist of hits from the 70s to today. Everyone had such huge smiles on their faces.

This day was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences we’ve ever had on a holiday. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, every moment was enjoyable, and Shane’s energy and dedication truly elevated the day.

If you’re visiting Saint Lucia, do yourself a favor and book this excursion. It’s an experience you’ll never forget, and you’ll leave with amazing memories and a smile on your face.

Thank you, Shane, and the whole team for an absolutely perfect day!

What a fun day on the boat with Captain Raymund and his energetic crew Patrice, Shane, and Von.

We were 2 families with teens and had the privilege of having the boat all to ourselves. We were able to customize our itinerary for the day which allowed for us to spend as much time on gorgeous Sugar Beach where we had an epic snorkel experience and enjoy some freshly blended Pĩna Coladas and refreshing Mojitos.

We enjoyed a leisurely cruise in Marigot Bay where we saw Jeff Beso’s enormous sailing yacht and savoured the view of the majestic Pitons for as long as we wanted. We also learned a lot about the island from our knowledgeable crew members.

Our stop in Soufrière took us to Joy’s personal residence where we ate a delicious home made lunch surrounded by lush tropical plants. All the food was organic from a local market or hand picked from Joy’s garden. Edrick and Joy warmly greeted us and made us feel welcome and at their home.

The deep blue water juxtaposing green mountains can only be full appreciated from the water. Always felt safe and stable on the spacious boat with two new mercury outboards.

The highlight of our day was Captain Raymund’s positive energy, Patrice’s amazing singing, Shane and Von’s dancing skills, and the friendliness and kindness everyone exuded all day.

Teen Reviews:

Teen 1: We went snorkelling and it was wonderful seeing all the different types of fish through the clear blue water.

Teen 2: The boat ride was very exciting and had the perfect mix of hip hop and dance music and learning about special landmarks on the island.

Teen 3: The crew of the boat, Captain Raymund, Patrice, Shane, and Von, were hilarious and very lively making sure that everyone on the expedition had a great time.

Teen 4: I loved the crew and how nice they were. They made sure everyone was having fun. I also loved fishing because there were so many fish and we even saw a tuna jump out of the water. Also, the music was very nice and many people were dancing.

We all highly recommend Joy Adventures and can’t wait to return back to St. Lucia and do another private adventure with Captain Raymund.

Our family of 4 went on the cruise on December 28, 2022, departed St. James Morgan Bay around 9:00am, and returned at 4:00pm. There were a total of 18 on our boat cruise, but I think they can take up to 24. The boat’s captain was very pleasant, safe and knowledgeable. The other three staff - which included Joy’s daughter - were amazing. They pointed out landmarks and sights, played awesome party music, and were very helpful with getting on and off the boat. Our outing included a stop at the mud baths, the waterfall, a delicious authentic lunch at Joy’s house, and then swimming and snorkeling at Sugar Beach. The snorkeling was like swimming in an aquarium. The price was $145 each US$ and was 100% worth it. We would highly recommend this to anyone visiting St. Lucia, as it provides a very safe and fun excursion.

We went on the boat trip from Rodney Bay to Soufriere during our holiday and it was fantastic. The boat stopped at Castries and Marigot Bay (absolutely stunning Bay with mangroves) to pick up more passengers and then we cruised down to Soufriere with music and landmarks/history pointed out on the way.

At Soufriere we saw the stunning Pitons and were taken by car from the harbour to the volcano. The sulphur springs were HOT but we managed a full dip! Plastered ourselves in mud for photos and then bathed off again.

Next stop was Diamond Waterfall which was spectacular and very refreshing.

Then to Joy's house for lunch which was wonderful. All the other tour providers take you to a restaurant for lunch but it feels really special to be taken to a real St Lucian home. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed looking around the gardens and dipping our feet in the pool for the fish to nibble.

Back to the harbour and last stop was at Sugar Beach for snorkeling, swimming and strolling. Really beautiful and a spectacular backdrop of the Pitons. We did get a chap come up to us on the beach making birds and flowers out of palm leaves bur he was very happy with the 3USD we gave him.

Then we cruised back again with delicious rum punch and music.

Such a great day. Our crew was Joy, Raymond, Patrice and Michaela and they did a brilliant job. Patrice is absolutely hilarious and very entertaining. Highly recommended.

This 6 hr. plus trip explored the areas around the Titon mountain peaks of St. Lucia. Run by the Joy family, we were picked up at the St. James Club resort at 8:30 in the morn. What a great time indeed. The very friendly boat crew included a host of Mr. Joy's family, with a special shout out to his daughter Patrice. who by the way, was very considerate of my wife's special needs. They were knowledgeable about the history of this magnificent island. The lead crewman had us in stitches telling us funny stories along the way. We visited the very famous mud baths, followed by a dip in a local waterfall. Lunch was served at Mr. Joy's personal home on the island. After lunch, we were taken to sugar beach at the base of the Pitons for an hour plus of snorkeling. Back on the boat, rum punch, beer, and water were served to all that wanted. Before we knew it, we were back at the resort. This was the best 6 hours I ever spent on a tour, and would highly recommend it to anyone who was looking for a good time.--Mr. and Mrs. Steven Friedrich, Port St. Lucie Fl.

What an amazing experience we had on this tour! Captain Raymond was amazing and you could tell he takes his job seriously of safety and making sure all aboard have a great experience . We made so many memories. The mud baths were awesome, like nothing we have ever done and the waterfalls were so cool. The snorkeling at Sugar Beach with the view of the pitons exceeded my expectations. The rum punch, beer and music was a great way to head back to the pier. Shout out to Shane who came with us to the mud baths and the waterfall, he was a great tour guide and took pictures for us along the way, he also provided lots of entertainment with his jokes on the boat ride! I would highly recommend!

We booked this day excursion via the st James club after speaking to guests who had already taken it. Everyone recommended and now so are we. I was worried that 25 people would cramp the boat but it was fine. Our hosts, Raymond, Shaun & Vaughan were ace all day their well rehearsed Schtick making everyone laugh and their return journey rum punch giving smiles for everyone

We went from morgan bay to the pitons with a land excursion to the sulphur baths and then the waterfall. Lunch stop at a little family operation with a botanical garden too
A great value day out

While on holidays in St. Lucia, my wife and our family went on one of Joy's excursions. I had taken an excursion with my son back in 2013 and from memory, I was really looking forward to this one. To say it was amazing would be an understatement, it was the highlight of our holiday. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the marina in Rodney bay, where we boarded Joy's boat, crewed by his family of Vaughan, Shane and Patrice. From the get go, Vaughan had us laughing heartily with his comedic commentary about the trip and what really struck me about the crew was how much they enjoyed doing what they were doing. They danced continuously to Caribbean music and their enthusiasm was hugely infectious. This was what really made the trip for me, but when you combine that with the sights you see, it makes for an all round fantastic experience.

We were taken on a trip of the coastline of St. Lucia, stopping off in Morgan Bay to pick up more passengers. We saw a famous archway used in Pirates of the Caribbean and then we were given a tour of Marigot Bay. After that, we continued on up the coast to Souffriere, a beautiful little town at the foot of the Piton mountains.

From there we were taken up to a volcano located near the Pitons, where we were allowed to bathe in the Sulphur baths and coat our bodies in Volcano mud, which was a real fun experience.

After that, we were treated to a Caribbean meal at Joy's home. The food was amazing, with no shortage of options on offer. Once we were all sufficiently fed and watered, we returned to Souffriere and boarded Joy's boat once again, which took us to a place called Sugar Beach.

Once there, we were given snorkeling gear and allowed to snorkel around the area or just relax on the beach for an hour. Once our time was up, we returned to the boat, where we were treated to rum punch, beers and plenty of hilarious behaviour from Vaughan and Patrice, who once again were the life and souk of the party.

The boat returned us to Castries, where we boarded a bus back to our resort in Rodney Bay. I would recommend this trip to anybody with a family or couples just looking for an amazing, fun day out.

This is by far the best cruise to take in St Lucia.... Joy is a wonderful person and makes you feel welcome at the resort and so enjoyable to talk with.

We checked into St James on Saturday evening and met Joy on Monday and booked our cruise for Tuesday as soon as we finished our conversation and didn't regret one minute.
Captain Raymond, Shane and Vaughan are the absolute best around.
family run tour that was highly professional, great fun with involvement from start to finish.
Travelling around the coast on his larger more luxurious catamaran (around 20 people so still very personal), detouring at local beauty spots such as Marigot Bay, the arch and the bat cave with loads of information from Vaughn, Joy’s son and his fabulous crew (who were great photographers too, using everyone’s phones and cameras to take family pics at the mud baths and waterfalls), we still got to the land attractions, Soufriere, Sulphur Springs, Mud Baths and the water fall, well before the crowds turned up which was wonderful.

The trip includes a beautiful and varied lunch in Joy’s home restaurant near Soufriere, prepared by his daughter and wife amongst his stunning gardens after we sampled fruit and herbs straight from the trees and plants and being told all about them by Shane.

Then off to Sugar Beach for some awesome snorkeling, swimming or sunbathing under the Pitons, an iconic must for any visitor to St Lucia.
Then it’s back on board for party time! Plenty of Piton lagers, delicious homemade Rum Punch, soft drinks, great music and a great atmosphere all the way back to the hotel beach. Not to mention, we seen Dolphins on the way back and Captain Raymond turned the boat around so we could watch a dolphin show. Absolutely amazing!!!

Then on Friday, which was our full last day, Joy gave us an opportunity to take a sunset cruise with snorkeling with another awesome couple we had met earlier in the week. We had the awesome cruise for just the 4 of us.

In the midst of our cruise it began to storm but with our wonderful captain Raymond being in charge we made it safe and sound and was able to do more snorkeling and see a wonderful sunset.

We will definitely be back to St Lucia because of our wonderful experience with Joy Cruise!!! They are the BEST.
