It is beautiful and unspoiled. Great photo opportunity with island in the background and Cane Garden Bay in the distance. There were four or five buoys there with half of them empty by the time we left in the midafternoon on our way to Great Harbor, JVC. Getting that BoatyBall reservation gives you lots of flexibility to enjoy simple pleasures like this island.

If you go to the British Virgin Islands, Sandy Cay cannot be missed. It could quite possibly be the most beautiful island there is! The sand is as soft as powder and just as white. You can see nearly 40 feet below through the water, that's how crystal clear it is. Something else a lot of people might not know is that there is an amazing trail that leads to the top of the island. Once you're at the top, you are staring straight down the most beautiful rock cliff with crashing waves. You have to see this in your lifetime!

We first visited Sandy Cay in February 2014 and I swear I had been there before. But then I realize that I had - but just in my dreams.
Seriously, this caye has the whitest sand with a lush forest in the middle of it. We moored and swam in (probably about 350 yards) and swimming up to this remote island, and having the entire island to ourselves was simply amazing.
What a treat that this land has been preserved by the Rockefeller foundation. It reamins a gem. It's a stop you have to visit, just for the photo ops if nothing else....

Sandy Cay is located just past Jost Van Dyke and only took about 15-20 minutes to get there. We dropped anchor on the west side of the island. You could swim in, kayak, or paddle board. We chose to take the kayak to the island. Once on the island we decide to take the nature trail around the island. On the trail we ran into about a few hundred hermit crabs, several large lizards and few misquotes. The trail started on the beach and headed into the brush, up to the highest point on the island and back thru the brush to the beach again. After spending a couple of hours on Sandy Cay, we were off to our next stop.

This little island was so beautiful I was speechless the entire time I was on it. It Literally is heaven! Out of the beaches I have visited in the world its my number one! Just magical! Make sure you plan a private or group boat ride and visit this island! I will always return to the BVI for sandy cay and sandy spit! In love!

If one wants to see what we hope Heaven will be like this is the place. From pure white sandy beaches to lush Garden of Eden palm groves Sandy Cay offers a stunning experience of natural beauty. The aqua blue crystal clear water surrounding the Island tempts one to just jump in and remember what it was like when you were a child on your first beach adventure. Many people who visit this beauty claim that it was the greatest day of the vacation. Some even say "one of the best days of their life". I have lived in the Virgin Islands for over 16 years. I still am totally awed by the beauty and peace of Sandy Cay every time I visit. Don't let Heaven pass you by. Make sure you experience this wonderful little gem.

When you approach the island you feel like you're in a dream. How could such beauty really exist? Yet it does... Perfect white beaches, the most beautiful turquoise water you can imagine. Spectacular to just walk around and explore the small island. There is a lot of wildlife living here. The snorkeling is good around the island as well. This little gem of an island is definitely worth the time to experience.

Turquoise blue water, white sand, and palm trees, it is exactly what you think of when someone says picture a beautiful Caribbean beach. The fact that it can only be reached via water, means no crowds. On both trips we've been here, we were the only people on the island. All 13+ acres were all to ourselves. I could have stayed here all day.

It's a pretty island with some great swimming but the snorkeling isn't that great. It's worth a trip but you don't need to spend the entire day there....maybe an hour?

This was an unexpected detour on our trip, we wanted to moor in Diamond Cay and none were available so we took a little trip here to pass some time. The beach is beautiful but what was even better was the nature trail around the entire island. There are a lot of lizards and hermit crabs running around and it goes from sandy in the palms to rocky with cacti to an amazing 360 degree view and then back to the lovely white sandy beach. Amazing photo opportunities! Bring shoes or sandals though, the black rocks were super hot and ouchy!

I'm looking to see the bvi's where should o land? To take ask cruise to see all the best islands?
