Have you ever kite boarded? Do not worry I had not either. The instructors were very friendly and helpful, most of all they were patient. The key is don't be afraid and listen closely. Kite Boarding is an experience you will never forget!

Hello TripAdvisor doesnt let me post emails please look on google Carib Kiteboarding
I've taken some kiteboarding lessons in Maui, and got to the "body dragging" stage, at the normal progress rate, but that was a year ago. In my mind, the wind in Maui at the time was too strong for an older beginner like me (I’m in Pres. Obama’s generation), and I also think the kite was too large for a beginner in strong wind conditions. I am looking for a place to travel to and learn to kiteboard at my own pace, which could be pretty quick if I have the right instructor and the right conditions. I have seen videos of kiteboarding in the area of the Virgin Islands, and the thing I particularly liked is the clear, blue water that appears shallow enough to not be concerned about sharks, because they would be so exposed due to the clearness of the water.) Am I imagining this, or is it true that the ocean in the videos of kitesboarding there are pretty much free of sharks if you stay in the clear water? Also, is it a pretty safe area to learn to kiteboard? (I recognize and understand that there is an inherent risk in the sport, but I am talking about being able to learn without thinking constantly that the wind is going to blow you out to sea or into some rocky rip-rap that will either hurt you or bystanders.) I am a pretty good swimmer, and in very good physical condition. I would appreciate your reply and comments. Jerry B.

Hey there Jerry - We don not have to worry about sharks here. I have seen some small juvenile ones swimming around but nothing that has kept me out of the water. We have a good set up here in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda... More
