Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We saw this stunning beach from our car driving to the turtle farm from 7 mile beach. The next day, we decided to stop and make a half day of it. The beach is long and there weren't many people there other than a few locals that took the two pavilions. It wasn't a problem as we sat under a tree. There is nice snorkeling a few feet from the shore. Even better snorkeling is walking south down the beach, past the Italian restaurant and going to the back of the gas station. There is reef within 3 feet from the shore where lots of colorful fish of various sizes and sea urchins are hanging out. Totally recommend a stop at this quiet, never crowded white sand, blue-green water beach.

If you want to imagine what it would be like to be a detective in the popular series ‘Miami Vice’ you could do worse than watching the car park deals here on a Sunday afternoon.

This is one of only 6 or 7 bioluminescent bays in the world. There are microscopic creatures in the warm waters of this bay which will emit light when they are jostled. Of course, you need to go well after sunset to get the full experience. The only reason I did not give it an excellent rating is the fact that there are a lot of mosquitoes who go into action at the same time, so make certain you have a really good repellent.

We drove through West Bay during our circle tour on the island and noted that this was primarily a quiet residential neighborhood but there are a couple attractions of note. The most well know and popular attraction is the Turtle Farm (we visited earlier) and is worth a visit especially if you have kids. The other notable attraction is Hell and its unusual geological formation; probably not worth its own visit but fun and interesting if in the area. Many of the Stingray City tours depart from this part of the island but first gather elsewhere. We also noticed many locals parking and heading off to swim and snorkel at a beach along a cemetery located at West Bay Road and Swift Lane. We did not have time to try this location but given the number of locals at this location on a Sunday, we will give it a try on a future visit. We found touring the island on a Sunday worked out very well as most things were closed, outside of the tourist oriented establishments, reducing traffic and making driving on the left hand side, with the many roundabouts, more manageable.

Besides SMB, the Turtle farm, and all the other things to do, it is simply beautiful to visit. It is accessable via the public buses as well.

We've stayed on the West Bay on both our trips and have found it to be much quieter than along 7 Mile Beach but still close enough to get too for things to do and see. Macabuca, Alfresco's, Turtle Farm and Dolphin Discovery are all on the West End along with a lot of dive sites and great places to snorkel. Coconut Bay Condo was a great place to stay on our last visit and would always pick West Bay to stay.

My husband and I travel to Grand Cayman every year to vacation. We usually stay on the other parts - North Side, East End, Kaibo/Rum Point, and Georgetown. This year we decided to drive to West Bay to have a look and were sorely disappointed. It's very run down and unkempt compared to the the rest of the island.

We stayed at an Airbnb in WestBay and loved being away from the crowds. The West Bay Diner had great food for a fair price and there is a Fosters IGA grocery store nearby. Only a ten min or less drive to 7 mile beach public access and there were other public beaches even closer.

My family and I frequent WB Beach quite often. There isn't just one beach but a series of beaches with plenty of parking.
You'll occasionally find vendors selling food for a good price and also serving good size portions.
Locals are friendly and very approachable.
